“Thank you, but I can’t take the credit. I’m just the auntie.”

“Oh, well, then your niece is beautiful.”

“She is huh?” The woman smiled widely. “I’m Heather.”

“Cheyenne—” I started to introduce myself when I heard Reagan’s voice from down the hall.

“You made it!” I looked up and saw her head poking out of the room waving me to come down.

“It was nice meeting you.” I waved as I headed down the long corridor toward Reagan and passed a woman that reminded me of a young Brooke Shields walking toward the lobby.

From behind me I heard Heather greet the woman and say, “Amelia, do you want to tell mommy that you beaned a nice lady in the head with your toy.”

The woman groaned. “She didn’t.”

“She did,” Heather confirmed.

Before moving to Firefly and reuniting with my brothers, hearing that interaction would have made me a little bit sad because I’d always wanted to have a sister. But now I not only had one sister-in-law, I was about to get another one.

I still may not know who my biological father was, but I definitely had a family.
