That was what I loved about him most. That quality is what made him so easy to talk to. I hoped that quality would make it easy for me to tell him, I’m a virgin and I want you to be my first.

My heart was thundering against my ribcage as we walked to the area behind the tent where we were gathering while the guests were ushered inside. He stopped up short and covered his hand over mine that was clinging to his bicep like it was a cliff I was hanging off of. Which was an appropriate analogy because that’s exactly what this felt like.

“Chy?” Hearing the concern in his deep, raspy voice both soothed my frazzled nerves and also had my hormones kicking up to high gear. “You’re shaking.”

“I’m um…cold.”

Cold? It was a humid eighty degrees outside.

I was trying to come up with a way to explain my response when Cash removed his jacket and placed it over my shoulders. I shivered as the warmth from the heat of his body wrapped around me and I inhaled the masculine scent that was uniquely Cash. He always smelled like sandalwood and vanilla musk.

My throat was constricted with emotion but I managed to whisper, “Thanks.”

“Let’s do a toast!” Nadia grabbed flutes off the tray that was sitting in the catering prep area. “To the bride and groom!”

The rest of the wedding party all grabbed a glass, but I hesitated. I was still feeling the effects of my mimosas. But then again, maybe a little bit more liquid courage was just what I needed.

One more drink couldn’t hurt. Right?
