“God, yes,” she replied, buttoning and zipping up her jeans. “No idea why. She’s hot, obviously, but it’s like, more than that. She was all shy and innocent and seemed to love watching tonight.”

“Shy and innocent, huh?” Devin tossed her shirt back on. “Not usually your type. You prefer the women who let you do what we just did, even when you’re fucking them, too. Shy and innocent doesn’t usually mean that.”

“Not usually, but she was here.”

“True.”

There was a knock at the door and Brandi’s voice on the other side of it.

“Hey, you two. Are you decent?”

“Hey, babe,” Devin said as she slipped back into her flip-flops and opened the door.

“So, barely decent?” Brandi asked, closing the door behind her. “Damn, it smells like sex in here. I just saw you, like, five minutes ago.” She took Devin’s hand. “You touched yourself.” She slipped two of Devin’s fingers into her mouth. “And not Silver?”

“She did. I took care of myself,” Silver answered instead.

She then found a towel she’d taken from the bathroom earlier that day and wiped her hands, tossing it to Devin, who caught it with her free one and waited until Brandi let her fingers go with a pop before wiping her own hands.

“Um…” Devin stared at her girlfriend. “We’re going to go home now.”

“Yes, we are,” Brandi said.

“Alone?” Devin checked.

“She said not tonight, but another time,” Brandi spoke of the bartender.

“Perfect,” Devin replied, leaned in, and kissed her.

Silver watched as they walked out of the office and closed the door behind them before she flopped back onto the futon, feeling a little sore from how hard she’d rubbed herself, and sighed because, even though the orgasm had been good and necessary, the way she’d reacted to Honor hadn’t been something she could explain to herself. That had her wondering what the hell was going on.

CHAPTER 5

Honor felt like a fool, and she hated it. At work, she was usually reserved but in control when appropriate. In the rest of her life, she was even more reserved and didn’t do things she really wanted to do out of fear. Her plan for her thirtieth birthday had been to go skydiving with Temperance, but she’d chickened out the day before and canceled their appointment. The thought of jumping out of an airplane, careening toward the earth with an instructor strapped to her back while her younger sister probably yelled with joy and excitement and Honor held back her own screams because hers would be in terror, was something she hadn’t been able to reconcile, so she hadn’t gone.

Instead of taking baby steps and maybe going to the indoor skydiving place in the city, she’d canceled altogether and decided she’d do it for her fortieth, perhaps. Instead of taking baby steps and hooking up with a woman on some app just to finally explore this part of herself, she’d gone to an art show where people were literally fucking all around her. Her logic didn’t make sense to her, and as she stood just outside the warehouse, next to a group of people who were smoking now that the show was over, Honor felt embarrassed yet again.

She’d been about to come again without having been touched. It had been something she’d figured out about herself when she first started exploring what it meant to touch her own body to pull pleasure from it. She’d tried a few things. None of those things had made noise because her parents’ bedroom was right on the other side of one wall, and Temperance had the room on the other side of Honor’s other wall, but she’d stroked and rubbed, and yes, she’d even humped a pillow a few times. She’d figured out through much trial and error that she could get herself really turned on, and if she clenched her thighs together slowly at first, and then quickly, she could come. Those orgasms weren’t the strongest, but they got her by in a pinch, and she’d nearly done that for a second time tonight, with someone she didn’t know standing behind her, holding on to Honor’s hips and talking dirty into Honor’s ear.

Honor had nearly come just from watching the two women in front of them and listening to the woman behind her, feeling her fingers dig just slightly into Honor’s hips, as if they’d gone to this event together and were going to leave together and do all those things Silver talked about.

Honor breathed in the cigarette smoke, hating it, and took a few steps toward the doors to the warehouse. She could see a few people inside milling about, pulling sheets, and otherwise cleaning up.

“Um…” she said to the woman outside the door still.

“Yeah?”

“Can I go back in just for a second?”

“The show’s over,” the woman replied as she tucked her phone into her back pocket.

“I know. I think I left something in there. My hat. I took it off for a second.”

“You had a hat on? I don’t remember you wearing that hat tonight. Last night, yeah. It was quite a look.”

“Uh… yeah. Just need to grab it, if that’s okay,” Honor replied and pointed to the open doors. “I won’t be but a minute.”

“I can’t let you go back in. The performers are still in there. Some shower here after the show, and others hang out and have a few drinks.”
