“It's hard to fight two enemies at the same time.”

There was no doubt that was true, and it wasn't getting any easier either. The only thing she could be grateful for was they hadn't tried for her brother again. They had decided she was the better target and if they attacked her now, they might find she was harder to defeat. While she hoped never to use it, she wished she had the fire breathing ability.

“As our queen, you will come with me when I meet with our war council. That is where we will be going soon as we are ready. They have all been notified and we'll get there as soon as they can.”

“Does this mean you are declaring a war on the rogues?” Toni asked.

“No, it means they had already declared war on our empire. Now they have simply moved to our country to continue it. We must do everything we can to wipe out these rogues who escaped the war that was going on at our home planet.”

“The video I watched, it was real, wasn't it?”

“Yes, I had hoped to gently teach you about our history. This was only our recent history because the history further back would not have a video to show you.” Ranger explained.

“At one time, didn't you have another planet that you got your brides from?”

“Yes, but for some reason they didn't object to those brides. Maybe it was because their planet was close by and none of them changed into a dragon at all.”

“It sounds like they don't mind brides being brought in as long as they aren't up to the standards of a dragon. That makes them too close to being equal.” She was thinking back to what Ranger had said before about them having no standing. Maybe they didn’t mind the other brides because they considered themselves superior to those mates. After all they weren’t what they would consider true dragons.”

“You are right. The only females to have complete changes before were those born with a natural parent. Those brought in were never full dragons, not even weak ones.” Ranger agreed.

“It makes no sense because you said even a king from your planet was on their side and he had standing.”

“There was more than one king, but had they won I believe they would have fought over who could be emperor. For them it was simply a power play, and this was their best way to do it.”

“Are you saying they were being opportunistic and didn’t care how they got there just that they did? Are you sure the kings were not simply racist?” Toni asked.

“Yes, the king everyone thought had probably headed the rogues had a human girlfriend who had given him a set of twins and eventually the son would have been his heir. This was only a useful rebellion for him.”

“Just a reminder that there are terrible people willing to do whatever they can to get their way. Earth history is full of such people.”

“I have looked at your history and seen such people. And now you can see that there are some in ours. We'd best go because they are waiting for us.”

He took her hand and led her along. They would go all the way down to a room near where she had met his dragon first. The war room had many seats which sat around a large round table. There was a two sided screen that could be pulled down that would show whatever they needed to see. When they entered there were two seats together waiting for them. At the edge of the room there was a long bar where there were drinks because sometimes Ranger had mentioned these meetings could take a long time.

Carler sat near one of the empty seats, so she assumed that Ranger was sitting next to Carler as he usually did. Since Ranger had went to get them each a drink, she sat one seat away from Carler. When she was in place, she nodded at those sitting near her. Everyone was waiting for Ranger to sit and begin this discussion. He sat and slid her drink to her then he looked around the table with a serious expression on his face.

“We have a group of rogues from our planet, and they are hiding in unpopulated areas of our country. This is not a good time for them since we still have not dealt with the mob entirely. I'm hoping that someone will come up with a solution. While the soldiers were here, they were able to deal with the break ins at the parks that we are building. As soon as the ship left the break ins began again. Only dealing with them when soldiers are here is not working. Toni has suggested having dragons stay at one park and once that park is attacked deal with those rebels and then move to another park, so they never know which park is covered. This is just a temporary solution because clearly some parks will still be attacked.” Ranger explained.

“Obviously what we need, is the soldiers to cover all the parks and then have a team that begins to go through the country from one end to the other dealing with them as necessary.” Carler pointed out.

“If that were possible, we would have already done it.” Milem was visiting temporarily.

“Are we going to waste all our time pointing out the obvious.” Dread asked. It was not his real name, but his dragon name was complicated, and he liked the nickname.

“I was hoping that someone would have a better solution.” Ranger observed.

“Maybe you should make a list of how many actual dragons you have on hand that would be suitable to use at the parks? Then we could see if their jobs are something that a human can do, and we place humans in their positions here and send them there.” Toni suggested. All eyes turned toward her and none of them had a friendly look on their face.

“And what will you be doing while we are doing that" Carler asked.

“Ranger and I will pick a park and camp out there, just as you will.” Toni explained.

“There you go. If someone doesn't come up with a better solution it seems this is the best that we have.” Ranger pointed out. None of these guys wanted to rough it and he didn't blame them, this is war and they needed to realize that.

It wasn't like it would be as bad as sleeping in the ditch is since they would all have the shuttles. The seats folded into beds and there was a refrigerator, a small stove, and there was a bathroom. They were like some of the little campers that humans had. Only they were built better and more comfortable to stay in.

Maybe if they had had their women with them or a woman anyway, they might not have minded so much. They were staying in quads which is four soldiers to a group. This was a common number when they were doing small attacks. It didn't mean they might not be outnumbered, but it did mean there were enough of them to give the enemy a fight. If it didn't work out, they would just fly away to fight another day. It was similar to a human saying that fit really well.
