Iris is back downstairs and seated on a sofa in our living room. Julian is sitting on the armrest of her couch while my brothers surround her.

“These parties serve the best food and drinks,” Julian says. “And you get to wearwhateveryou like.”

“There’s dancing too,” says Damon, attracting Iris’s attention.

Her cheeks turn pink as she gazes into his intense amber eyes.

I instantly know something’s brewing between the two of them.

Raiden stabs an elbow in Damon’s gut. “I’m dancing with her first.”

“No way! I have unfinished business with her,” he retorts.

“Oh, please,” says Julian in a loud voice. “I get to have her first dance.”

Iris suddenly laughs and the three men stare at her, mesmerized.

I can’t deny it. The sound of her laughter oddly puts me at ease.

“Stop fighting over who gets to dance with me first,” she says, still chuckling. “I can’t dance.”

“I can teach you,” Julian says.

“I can teach you too,” says Raiden. “You have great coordination already. It’s just learning a sequence of steps like you do with taekwondo.”

Julian slaps him on the arm. “Don’t compare dancing to fighting.”

“It’s the same,” Raiden argues back.

Damon shifts closer to Iris while Julian and Raiden get into a heated argument. He hooks a finger under her chin and forces her to look up at him.

Her cheeks burn. Damon leans in closer, his gaze locked on her lips.

“Damon,” I grind out before he can kiss her.

My voice breaks the spell between them.

Iris jumps and leans away while my brother frowns at me. What’s making him think it’s okay to kiss her in front of Julian?

“I can’t go,” Iris says, looking uncomfortable. “I have never been to a formal party like this before. Besides, I don’t have the clothes. I can’t dance. I’ll probably end up embarrassing you guys.”

“What about the parties at the omega academy?” Julian asks. “They have plenty of socials where family is invited.”

Iris’s ears turn red. “Delilah told me not to go,” she says, not meeting their gazes. “She knew I’d embarrass her.”

Anger flashes across Julian’s face. “That’s not true. She was probably afraid you’ll steal the limelight.”

Iris shakes her head. “It’s not like that. She knew I would never be comfortable among the omegas attending those parties. They all come from rich families. My parents could only afford stuff for Delilah. I couldn’t ask them to shell out money for me too.”

“Your parents suck,” Julian says through gritted teeth.

I’ve never seen him get so riled up before. For the first time, I’m seeing his protective side.

“You’ll come to the party with us,” says Julian in an assertive tone. “I’ll make sure you feel second to no one.” He suddenly looks my way. “We’re taking her shopping.”
