“I’m sorry,” Rayne said.

“I’m not. It was for the best.”

“So, I’m getting advice from two women who aren’t sleeping with anyone.”

An image of a naked Dominick sprang to mind, and this time, I was the one who shivered.

Vivian

Since my lunchmeeting with Delaney and Rayne at the beginning of the week, I hadn’t been able to think about much of anything other than sex with Dominick.

It was just that…it had beensogood.

Even though the guy wasn’t my type and I would never date someone like him, I couldn’t stop thinking about his dick.

It was Friday, meaning that it had only been a week since we’d slept together, and I already wanted to do it again. Last time I’d felt like this, the restless feeling had taken three months to build. It was quite a jump from that to one week.

It was a good thing I had a meeting in ten minutes. Being face-to-face with a client would help me focus on work.

Just then, my phone rang, the caller ID telling me it was the front desk.

“This is Vivian,” I answered.

“Hi, Vivian. It’s Mara. Your one thirty called to cancel.”

“Now?” I said out of frustration. “It’s a little late. I could have been doing other things besides waiting for them to show up.”

“I’m sorry,” Mara said.

I sighed. “It’s not your fault. Thanks for letting me know.” I hung up the phone and pushed myself up off my chair.

I needed a file from another associate, and since my meeting had been canceled, I might as well work on that instead.

As I made my way down the hall, I was almost to the receptionist’s desk, and for a second, I thought I saw Dominick in my peripheral vision. I did a double take, but the man had passed. I rushed to turn the corner, but all I saw were the elevator doors closing.

As I stood there, staring at nothing, I realized there was no way that he would be at my job. What would he be doing in a law firm?

Fuck. I had it bad.

I swung around and marched to Kirk Bauman’s office.

“Kirk.”

He looked up. “Oh, hey, Vivian.”

“I need the Weber file.”

Kirk smiled politely. “Oh, I took it back to Records.”

My jaw clenched, and I took a deep breath. “I told you I needed it after you.”

He frowned in fake sympathy. “Sorry. I forgot.”

“Yeah, whatever,” I muttered under my breath before turning and heading for Records.

If I were a man, I’d bet he wouldn’t have “forgotten” that I needed it.
