“When have I ever said anything that offended you?”

You look like a whore.

I shoved that comment to the back of my mind and went on, “But I have a choice, and I choose not to—”

“I haven’t done anything to you.” He puffed up his chest and scowled.

“You’re being disrespectful, and I choose not to give you—”

“You’re always saying I’m being disrespectful.”

“I choose not to—”

“When? Huh?” He butted in again.

I kept my voice even. “You’re behaving disrespectfully—”

“How?”

He pushed my patience.

“Toward me right now.”

“Because I’m asking you a question?” He barked.

“You never let me finish what I’m saying.” I threw my hands up in frustration. “You never let anyone—”

“I’m asking you a question. Why isthatdisrespectful?”

“The way you go about it is rude, and I—”

“Rude?” He unfolded his arms and leaned toward me. “How?”

“You don’t let me finish what I’m saying before—”

“I do, too.”

Seff snorted.

Obviously, my brother didn’t discriminate in who he interrupted. I cocked my head and stared at him.

“You never let me finish what I’m saying before you interrupt with—”

“That’s not true.”

Trying not to lose my temper, I started again, “You never let me finish what—”

“Why do you keep fucking repeating that?” he shouted an inch from my face.

I didn’t back down or raise my voice to match. Seff, on the other hand, took a step closer.

“You continually interrupt me with what you think is more important.”

“I...you...that’s just...” Deck sputtered, then shook his head as he glared at me.

I had two choices—stop talking or—finish it.

“Decker, you’ve cussed at me. You’ve called me names. You’ve threatened me, not only verbally, but physically, too.”
