“I’ve done it to you again, haven’t I?”

“Done what?” Luci asks, his expression worried as he reaches to tuck a stray piece of hair back behind my ear. “Darling, what have you done?”

“My death, it’s going to break you all over again, isn’t it?” I say, my voice breaking. “I shouldn’t have—”

Luci catches my chin in his hand, his green eyes piercing into my very soul as he smiles gently at me.

“No, no, Evi, darling. You have it all wrong. My love for Anna was the only thing I had worth living for, until now. Until you. You’ve saved me, truly. I will never regret bonding to you. I swear this to you.”

My heart swells to bursting at this, and I throw my arms around him as tears of relief, joy, and exhaustion spill out over my cheeks.

“Bloody hell, there you are,” comes Dante’s voice as his form emerges from the smoke. “Evi, are you okay?”

“Yes,” I say with a tired nod.

“Good. Ready to go home, love?”

“They better be fucking ready to go home,” Seven says, suddenly appearing over Dante’s shoulder. “Do you have any idea how worried we were, little one?”

“I’m so sorry. I was just so afraid that I’d lose you.”

“What?” Seven looks horrified. “No, don’t be sorry, Evi. You didn’t do anything wrong. We were just worried about you.”

“You know,” I say quietly, “you can call me Evelyn. Evi is just a stupid nickname I made up.”

“I don’t know,” Dante says with a grin. “I kind of like Evi.”

“Yeah, me too,” Seven says. “It completes us. It’s kind of like you’re the E V I to our D L S.” We all look at him in confusion. “You know, like Devils ... Cause we’re The Devils Mafia.”

Dante pinches his nose before looking at me.

“Alright, I definitely think it’s time we went home. Sleep, food, and baths are in order, and not necessarily in that order.”

“I can think of something else to add to that list,” Seven says with roguish grin just as Dante punches him in the arm.

I smile up at them, brushing the tears from my cheeks.

“Yes, let’s go home.”

Dante was right, bonding to them is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.

It’s all I want.

All I need.

They are my everything.

My monsters. My devils.

My loves.

Epilogue

June 8

My dearest diary,

In just a few days, I'll be celebrating my one hundredth birthday. I know. I almost wouldn't believe it myself, if it wasn't getting so hard to hold this pen steady in my hand ...
