“That’s fine,” she said, standing upright again. “I’ll just be in the next room over; all you have to do is shout and I’ll return.”
Mina nodded and watched her walk a few steps away, before closing her eyes, willing herself to relax. The warm water loosened her muscles and eased the ache in her back. Her mind drifted, and just as she felt herself beginning to fall asleep in the water, she heard one of the doors let out a low groan as someone entered the room.
Opening her eyes, she sank a little further into the water and looked to the door that led into the hall, and there wasn’t anyone there. She turned to look where Lucy’s room laid on the far side of the room and there was nothing there.
The only left….
Turning around completely in the tub, she looked back at the door that laid hidden beside her bed. He stood in the shadows just beyond the corner of her four-poster bed. His eyes cut her to the core, bright with anger, and something else she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
Stepping into the light a little more, he gave her a once over. She felt his gaze slide down along her neck, to where her breasts sat at the edge of the water, and back up to her face, catching for the barest moment on her lips. Her breath caught in her throat.
Erik frowned, and he turned his head to the side a little. “Are you afraid of me?”
