You've lost only one thing so far. Do you really wish to lose everything? Take the offer or lose everything else you hold dear, Rose. I'm not playing.

She threw her phone, yelling as she did. Another sob tore through her as she crumbled to her knees. Everything was ruined. She knew he held all the power. She'd lost this. She'd lose her other job. She could lose Dylan. She could lose everything, and there was nothing she could do.

And at that moment, she was afraid he had already won.

TWENTY

DYLAN

Dylan seated himself in his chair and set his briefcase next to him. He sighed as he relaxed for a second, preparing himself for the long day ahead of him. It didn't take long before his phone buzzed.

He glanced down, seeing it was his secretary, Lisa. The phone buzzed again, and he pushed the intercom button before leaning back. "Yes?"

Her voice came out calm and professional, "I wanted to let you know that I got that background check back that you wanted me to run for you the other day."

"Good." Dylan nodded, looking down at all the paperwork he had on his desk, "So, what did you get?"

He heard her clicking on her computer as she spoke, "It took some time to really get any solid information, but no one here is headhunting Tish Black. I asked around with several people, and not a single person had anything much to offer. But I did manage to get my hands on some photos of the singer."

"You did? That's great." He flipped his computer on.

"Yes. It did take some time since the singer didn't sign any consent forms to have the photographer release the photos, but I managed to sweet-talk him into it."

Dylan blinked. It was strange that the singer wouldn't want to be known. It was how you got publicity. People see your face, and they get that connection.

But the other part that bothered him more was that Lisa did some dirty work, and God only knows what she did to get this request done. "You did what exactly?" Dylan asked, leaning forward in his chair, slightly worried. "What did you promise in exchange for those photos, Lisa?"

He heard her laugh, and he didn't know if that was good or bad. Lisa had always been one to make sure everything Dylan wanted was done one way or another.

"Don't worry, sir, nothing I wasn't willing to do. He's taking me out for lunch, and I may have promised sex, but that isn't the point."

Dylan shook his head. "Lisa, that's not what I meant when I said I wanted information."

Lisa once more laughed, "Well, I wasn't getting anything. Besides, I have no problem with it. The man was certainly someone I would ride anyway. You should have seen his face."

"Lisa, that's …"

Lisa cut Dylan off, "Do you want me to continue, or do you want to yell at me for something I would have done anyway, might I add. The man was hot like the Savanna."

Dylan rubbed his eyes. "Fine, continue."

"Anyway, the singer didn't want to be photographed, so she refused to sign the form. The photographer thought it was a little weird but whatever. So, I promised the man a few things in exchange for the photos early. He was going to get the consent form signed soon anyway. I have the photos of the gal. Would you like me to print them up and bring them in?"

"Yes." Dylan nodded, needing to see them.

The line ended, and a few moments after, his door swung open, and Lisa walked in. He stiffened, taking in her outfit. Lisa was always a very conservative girl, but she walked in wearing a low-cut dress that ended just inches short of her butt. Dylan stared, shocked at her outfit.

"What in God's name are you wearing?" His eyes widened in horror and shock.

Lisa looked at her outfit before looking back up at Dylan. "Clothes. Now, here are the pictures." She walked over and placed a stack down on his desk.

Dylan glared at her, "Lisa, that's completely inappropriate to wear at work. What in God's name made you think you could wear that?"

She crossed her arms. "Well, I have that date tonight because you wanted information about Tish Black."

Dylan shook his head, "Good God, I didn't say sleep with anyone. I said to get me what you could."

She shrugged. "You didn't say that."
