“Shall we say our final farewells?” he asked Mary.
“Yes, my love. Let us say goodbye and make our way to our home,” she replied.
With that, Mary went to say goodbye to her father and Crispin found Harry, sitting over near Miss Lambton.
“We wanted to say farewell. I am sure that Mary will come and see you, Miss Lambton, but I wished to tell you both that I am grateful for all that you have done on our behalf. I do not know what would have happened if you had not come to our aid and given us the chance to be together,” Crispin said.
“Knowing how happy the two of you are, I think we would happily do it all over again. It is a great thing to know that you are together and will be for the rest of your days,” Harry said.
“It is true. Whatever the risks were, they were entirely worth it to see you both so happy,” Miss Lambton echoed.
Crispin smiled. They truly were happy. Even after everything that had happened, they were happy at last.
