“That’s because you’re sitting under the sun in a cami. I thought you were wearing a suit?”

“I am. I’m just afraid to take my cami off,” I admit, watching how the morning sun shimmers on the water’s surface. “The water looks amazing, though. Anyone thinking about going for a swim?”

“I need a coffee and some food first,” Taylor says.

“Agreed,” Jade sings. “On that note. Looks like the breakfast bar is open.”

“Great. I’m starving,” I announced, my stomach growling on cue as I transferred back into my chair.

Approaching the breakfast bar, we’re greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Lined up along the table sat mugs, milk, sugar, bacon, eggs, pancakes, and fruit. Hiding another yawn, I watched Jade pour herself a cup of coffee while I reached for a breakfast tray.

Quickly realizing how difficult this was about to become, Jade sensed my discomfort.

“Can either of us help you make a plate?” She asked, setting the coffee pot down.

“That would be great. Thank you.”

“Of course.”

“Coffee?” Taylor asked, reaching for a mug.

“Of course. I need something to perk me up this morning.”

“Or someone,” Jade teased,

“I heard that,” I replied, the sarcasm dripping off my words as the ever-expanding flutter in my chest kicked up anytime Logan is mentioned.

“What else would you like?” Jade asked, retrieving a plate from the stack.

“I was hoping to get a little of everything.”

Filling my plate, I couldn’t help but wonder if he’d be joining us this morning. In the last nine years, I’ve effectively avoided contact with Logan even though it hurt to be away from him, but now that he’s here on the ship, we’re constantly thrown into each other’s paths.

“How’s this?” Taylor asked, lowering the plate to eye level so I could have a look.

“That’s more than enough. Thank you.”

“Go grab a seat and I’ll bring it over.”

Relaxing by the pool and sipping mimosas with the girls was exactly what I needed after a big breakfast, like the one we just finished. While Jade was checking her emails on the right and Taylor was video chatting with her daughters on the left, I finally had time to dive into the book I brought along.

“Does anyone need another mimosa?” Jade asked, swinging her legs over her lounger sometime later.

“I could use another,” Taylor agreed, ending her call.

Jade turned to me. “How about you, Steph?”

“I could probably use another,” I admitted.

“Tip that back and I’ll grab you another one,” she said, motioning towards my almost empty glass.

Lowering her shades, Taylor puts her phone aside. “Do you want some help with those?”

“That’d be great. Thank you,” Jade replied.

Tipping back the last sip, I emptied my drink and extended the empty glass.
