Logan’s brow rose in confusion. “What did he do for you?”

“Remember when my chair broke senior year? Well, your grandfather approached me at one of your practices wondering why I was riding around in what he called a throwaway chair,” I snickered at the memory. “When I explained it was a loaner while I waited for funding to cover the repairs on mine, he took notice. I didn’t realize it at the time, but he must have spotted the sticker with the name of my chair provider. Two days later, a brand new chair arrived on my doorstep, better than the one I had.”

The corner of his mouth kicks up. “He never told me.”

“Yeah, I know. He asked me not to tell you,” I explained, my head and my heart fighting an internal battle of whether I should take a step back or move closer.

As if Logan understood, he reached for my chin as I let out a slow breath. Tipping up my chin, I closed my eyes against the pain splitting inside my chest. There’s no doubt we have history, but the moment I thought something might actually happen between us all those years ago, I got scared.

Wetting my lips, I opened my eyes to find Logan smiling at me. Looking into his, the chatter and the surrounding music faded and all I could focus on was him. With our lips just inches apart, I could feel his soft breath on my skin. “Speaking of chairs, how come you’re using this one? Where’s your regular one?”

“My Quantum chair isn’t travel friendly, so I’m using my Wisking chair since it’s more portable.”
