Alexandra rubbed her feet. Between her toes. Erin felt it everywhere. Alexandra’s warm oily hands were doing things to her body that she had never imagined. Her body was responding to the Princess’s hands.

“I’d lose everything if anyone found out,” Alexandra said matter of factly.
“Can’t you do whatever you like?” Erin knew she was being naive as she said it. “You know, being the future queen and all that.”
“Oh, I wish it was that easy.” The Princess sighed. “You can see how limited my life is. You watch me every day. You see the limits I have on my freedom.”
“Why not change things? You could, you know. You could do anything.”
“The people need to see a certain image from the Royal Family. From their future leader.
There’s just things that are expected. Things that I was born into. Things that cannot change. I wish, I really wish things were different. So many times I have imagined being born into a normal family, living a normal life. You and I are pretty much the same age, and look at all the things that you have achieved and are capable of that I never could. “
Erin laughed. “Like what?! You are one of the most famous women in the world!”
“Oh Erin, you don’t see yourself like I do. You have ridden at a high level, worked at some of the biggest horse competitions that there are. You can fight, you can shoot, you have pursued a tough career and excelled in it. Protecting someone like me is as good as it gets in your industry surely? I feel so safe with you by my side. You are so impressive.”
Erin smiled. She had never seen things in that way. Chief Inspector Evans didn’t think she was impressive. He thought she was a moron. Erin was hardest on herself though. Erin held herself to such high standards every day that it was no wonder that she never impressed herself. Maybe it was constantly fighting to be seen in a male dominated world? Maybe it was always having to be that little bit better at something to be recognised as a woman.
“I think being Princess Alexandra is pretty impressive.” Erin responded, her eyes dark with lazy desire.
“Princess Alexandra is a rank I was born to. That is just luck. It isn’t impressive.”
“Oh, Alexandra. Being Princess Alexandra is SO much more than that. I watch you every day playing that role. It is a lifetime of acting, of being so perfect and kind and genuine. It is a lifetime of remembering the little people’s names, of saying thank you, of being humble, of caring when you don’t really care. It is a world of giving parts of yourself away a hundred times a day and wondering if there will be anything real left in the end.” Erin took a breath. “You are incredible. Every day. That is why you are the most loved Princess. You are what changes perceptions of the Royal Family.”
“Thank you. You see a lot. Before you, I’m not sure when anyone else last saw the real me. I’m not really sure what is left of the real me. Anyway. Enough of this emotional stuff. You are making me blush!” Her cheeks pinked up endearingly.
Alexandra splashed Erin to lighten the moment. Erin splashed back. They both laughed.
