“Hi,” Susanna replied then looked at Monte. He placed his cell phone back into the clip on his black dress pants. He wore a dark gray shirt and appeared very businesslike and sexy as hell.

“What’s going on?”

He gave her body the once-over, and she did the same to him.

Ava began to speak.

“We have a bit of a problem. It’s the security system. All the cameras are acting batty, and the automatic locks and alarm systems are screwed up, too. If we don’t fix them, we’re going to have to stay closed tonight.”

Susanna felt her excitement at seeing Monte dissipate. Now she was filled with concern for the business.

“Crap. Well, what can we do? Is there anyone we can call?”

“I think I can help you out here. Do you want to go upstairs and discuss the particulars?” He reached for one of her bags to help her.

Their hands touched as she passed it over, and she stared at him.

“It’s that bad?”

“Don’t worry, honey, I know what I’m doing and have fixed even bigger problems. I just want us to be on the same page here with cost and how many people I can get here.”

“Well, I’ll pay you whatever it costs, Monte,” she said as they walked inside and down the hall to the elevator.

“I’m gonna go take care of the other stuff. I have the guys with the alarm system on standby in case we need them,” Ava stated.

“Great. Thanks, Ava, I’m sorry I’m late.”

Ava waved it off as no big deal and walked away.

Monte walked with Susanna into the elevator.

“Traffic on Farmer’s Pass?” Monte asked her as he looked her over again from head to toe. She swallowed hard. Farmer’s Pass was what all the locals called the long strip of roadway connecting the outskirts of town to Main Street in town. Did the sheriff call him?

The elevator stopped and the doors opened, so she headed down the hallway.

“You know that road is never busy, Monte,” she replied, trying to act all innocent and as if the sheriff hadn’t called him.

She walked into her office and placed the bags down on the small chair, and Monte closed the door behind them.

She turned to look at him, and his arms were crossed in front of his chest. He looked edible.

“What?” she asked him.

“Come here.”

She turned away a moment as if looking for something else that needed to be done, but her mind went blank. She needed him. She needed to feel him, touch him, and be kissed by him just like the sheriff.

“Now,” he added with authority, and slowly, and of course as sexy as she possibly could, she went to him.

He uncrossed his arms and took her hand to pull her against him.

“You’re damn lucky that no one went driving down that road while you and my brother were hot and heavy.”

She immediately felt the palm of his hand inch its way under her skirt and right to her ass. He thrust the ridge of his cock against her as he pulled her firmly against him.

Her mouth was nearly level with his chin as she parted her lips and looked at him in surprise.

“Yeah, sweetheart, that was my brother who called me when you pulled up outside.”
