Curtis tried shielding his face, but it was no use, I was pulverizing him.

I grabbed him by his t-shirt. “You fucking drugged her! What did you give her?”

“Boss!” Duke grabbed my arm.

I stood, dusting off my knees.

“I will find out what he gave her or he’ll die.”

Duke is Russian, he loves to torture.

I held my stomach laughing, staring at Curtis. “He’s going to kill you.

I glanced over at Duke. “You made my day.”

I knelt at Curtis’s side again. “You better hope she heals.”

I stood patting Duke on the shoulder. You know what to do.”

I gave her Rohypnol,” he spit up blood. His eyes were blood shot red.

“Wow, you drugged her so she wouldn’t remember shit. That’s fucking low. You are one desperate piece of shit.”

I whispered the address to Sebastian’s warehouse in Dukes ear.

“You know what to do.”

He smirked staring down at Curtis. “I do.”

“Good, remember I want everything moved out of this apartment by tomorrow afternoon.”

He glanced at me through his gas mask. “No problem.”

Closing the door behind me, I ran down the stairs exiting out of the back entrance, climbing into the back seat of the Suburban.

“Go.”

I pulled Lydia into my arms. Tears streamed down my face. “I got you baby. I will never let you go again.” I stroked her tattered blonde hair, cradling her in my arms.

“Hayden.”

I sobbed at the sound of my name.

“Don’t…let…me…go.” I won’t baby, I promise.

I wanted to go back to Lydia’s apartment and put a bullet in his head. What did Curtis do to my Lydia?

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

HAYDEN

The doctor evaluated Lydia’s condition. He ran several blood tests. Curtis did indeed give her Rohypnol, that’s why she was loopy. There was no semen inside of her. I was thankful he didn’t rape her. His saliva, however was all over her body. I felt like I let my wife down. I should have never let her go. The nurse stayed at our house to take Lydia’s vitals. I could take care of my own wife. I bathed her, brushed her teeth, dressed her, and fed her. Lydia was healing.

“Hayden.”

“Yes, baby?”

“Stop running around. Get in the tub with me.”

She didn’t have to tell me twice. I stripped down, climbing into the tub behind her. I tightened the scrunchy in the middle of her hair. Lydia laid in my arms. “I want to know what happened?” Her wedding ring sparkled on her finger. It brought a smile to my face.

I ran the soapy sponge up her arm. “You and I fell into a deep hole.” I paused. “We almost killed ourselves. We starved ourselves. I told Valen to stay with you and not worry about me. The weasel Curtis was able to get into your apartment because his uncle is your building manager. Long story short. Valen and I rescued you.”

“Thank you, Hayden. Thank you, for always looking after me. I couldn’t be without,” she cried.

“Me neither, baby.”

“I wish, I wouldn’t have been so stubborn.”

“Me either, baby. Just know I love you. A motherfucker will have to kill me to get to you again.” Lydia glanced into my eyes tilting her head back, softly I took her lips.

“You’ll never guessed who nursed me back to health.”

“Who Bryce?”

“Funny.” We laughed.

“Vicky said she had to bring us back together.”

“You are right, I can’t believe it.”

“Baby, when she found me, I was laying in the middle of the floor zoned out. She cried and cried. She didn’t think I would recover.”

“I have to thank her for saving you.”

“You’ll see her soon. My parents are throwing you a huge graduation party at their estate.”

“I can’t wait!”

Lydia smile dropped.

“What’s wrong?”

“I thought you came to take care of me, but it was Curtis. He was nice. Washing my hair.”

Her words made me cringe.

“He brought me a hot cup of tea. I felt a little better. He placed the tea cup to my lips helping me drink it down. ‘It’s just me and you now.’ I remember closing my eyes. That is the last thing I remember. Did he hurt me?”
