Lydia stared out into space.

“Why didn’t you go to the doctor?”

“I don’t have health insurance. I visited the local clinic if I felt sick. My father lost his health insurance once he no longer worked for the University. I pay for his doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, and medical bills in cash. Very slick move hiring a nurse to take care of my father. I thought it was temporary while we were away. My father said the nurse told him she will be there four days a week. Hayden, I can’t believe you.”

“Lydia, you’ll be fine. Next year this time, you’ll forget about worrying about things that I handle for us. I look forward to taking care of us.”

I grabbed a towel wrapping it around Lydia. “The stripper job needs to come to an end soon. How much do you owe on your father’s medical bills?”

“Hayden, sorry no! I have to pay as much as I can by August.”

“Will it help if I pay medical insurance for him also. That way the bills won’t increase.”

She dropped her head shaking it from side to side. I could tell I was embarrassing her. I fucking hate it.

I lifted her chin with my index finger until our eyes met. “Don’t ever be embarrassed about me helping you with whatever Lydia. You are about to be my wife. I’ll pay the $150,000.”

She snatched her face away from me, storming out of the room.

This woman is so fucking stubborn.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

HAYDEN

I stepped into the bedroom wrapping Lydia in my arms. My lips grazed her neck. Her head dropped back against my chest. “Love you, baby.”

“I love you too, Hayden.”

“Get some rest.”

She turned to me. “Wait, you’re not coming to bed?”

“Soon, baby. I’m going to take a shower.”

There was so much sadness in her eyes. She feels like it’s all her fault. It’s not her fault. It’s not our fault. We believe in love. The hot water massaged my back as I stood under the power pressure jets. I needed to relax.

They don’t know how she runs away from us, because she doesn’t want to ruin my life. Fuck, everyone who is against us. If Lydia and I don’t make it at least we tried. We believed in love enough to try. I love how my heart beats for her. I look forward to tomorrow, taking Lydia as my wife. An attorney will be here early, so Lydia can sign the prenup.

Drying my hair, I stood bedside watching my beautiful woman sleep. I slipped into bed naked, pulling her against my hard cock. Lydia moaned, rubbing her ass against my dick. “Not tonight my little bad girl. The perfect storm is coming.”

“I can’t wait.” She nuzzled into my arms.

The best dress designer in Las Vegas was at our door at 9 a.m. “Mr. Gaster, it is a pleasure to meet you.”

“The pleasure is all mine. Thank you, Mr. Boire for assisting my bride to be on her big day.”

“I’ve been designing dresses for the women in your family for years. When your mother called late last night, I told her it was no problem.”

I scratched my head. “I thought my grandmother called you.”

He raised his eyebrow. “No…”

“No, I called.”

They hugged giving air kisses. “Evan, thank you for helping me today.”

“No problem. Now where is the bride to be?”

“She will be down shortly. Feel free to set up.”

I turned my attention to my mother. “Mom, what are you doing here?”

“Your father told me what happened. He also told me Harrison and Margie gave you their blessings. I called them last night. They brought me up to speed. I flew out in the middle of the night. Your father was upset, but I don’t care. It’s not every day my only son gets married.” She rubbed my cheeks. “You’re my baby Hayden, no matter how old you get.” I hugged my mother tight.

“Thank you, mom.”

“Anything for my baby.” She stepped back patting her pale face under her eyes trying to keep her mascara from running.

She clapped her hands. “Now where is my future daughter-in-law?”

I stepped over to the long stair case. “Lydia!”

She appeared running down the stairs toward me. Lydia jumped into my arms. My lips pecked hers. “Baby, my mother and the dress designer are here.”
