He didn’t relent; like a man possessed, he switched positions, his mouth exploring new territory on her body, each thrust deeper and more intense than the last.
The night unfolded in an endless cycle of pleasure and pain, his bites leaving a burning trail across her skin, while his tongue soothed her, intensifying the sensations that enveloped her completely.

Allison woke up with an ache in her lower body, and as she shifted beneath the covers, she realized just how exhausted she still felt. She tried to adjust her position to ease the soreness, then turned onto her back with a soft groan. When she turned her head toward the other side of the bed, she found it empty.
Silas wasn’t there.
She glanced toward the bathroom, then looked around the bedroom, but there was no sign of him. Her expression fell as she searched the room once more, only to confirm that she was alone.
“Typical man,” she muttered in an irritated voice, sinking back against the pillows. “The moment he gets what he wants, he disappears.”
She clutched the bedsheet and pulled it higher to cover herself, but a small smile soon crept onto her face.
“But I had such a good sleep in his arms.”
She had not slept so peacefully in years. Even now, she could still remember how wonderful he smelled. With a quiet smile, she drew the covers closer and breathed in the lingering scent on the sheets.
Her gaze eventually wandered toward the side table beside the window. A plate filled with freshly cut fruit sat there, arranged neatly with a heart-shaped piece of watermelon in the center.
Allison propped herself up on her elbows and stared at the plate. The sight made her smile widen.
“So he isn’t as heartless as I thought,” she murmured. “He even knows that I like to eat fruits in the morning.”
Just then, she heard a voice coming from the corridor. Silas was speaking on the phone, and his voice grew clearer as he approached.
“Send me the locations. I’ll review them and decide where to take Allison. And arrange a honeymoon suite for us. I want the best they have to offer. Have them send me the details once everything is ready.”
Allison’s eyes widened.
He was arranging their honeymoon?
The sound of his approaching footsteps made her heart jump. She had assumed he had already left for work.
She immediately dropped back onto the bed, pulled the covers over herself, and closed her eyes. Turning onto her side, she pretended to be asleep just as the bedroom door opened.
Silas walked inside.
Allison kept her eyes shut, listening as his footsteps drew closer to the bed. She fought the urge to peek at him, determined to maintain her pretense of sleep.
Silas stopped beside the bed and looked down at her. He had already noticed her turning over the moment she heard him approaching, and he knew perfectly well that she wasn’t asleep.
“Allison,” Silas called, watching her lie motionless beneath the covers.
She didn’t turn around or make the slightest effort to acknowledge him.
“Allison, do you want coffee?” he tried again.
Still, she didn’t stir. Instead, she tightened her grip on the bedsheet and continued pretending to be asleep, determined not to give herself away.
A smile slowly spread across Silas’s face. It was obvious she wasn’t going to wake up for him, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. Pulling back the covers on the other side, he slipped into bed beside her.
Before Allison could react, he gently turned her onto her back and leaned down to kiss her on the mouth.
She gasped in surprise, her eyes flying open as she instinctively tried to sit up. But Silas kept her close, deepening the kiss until she was left breathless. Only when he finally pulled away did he give her a moment to catch her breath, though he remained hovering over her, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
Allison stared at him, her cheeks flushing. “You knew I wasn’t asleep!”
