“You’re supposed to be on my team,” I reminded her.

“I am. Your suffering is excellent for morale.”

Bliss waited until the room quieted before continuing. “Ryan and Charm are captains of the wedding-party and friends team.”

Briggs raised his hand.

“No,” Bliss said.

“I haven’t asked anything.”

“You aren’t captain.”

“I have leadership experience.”

Rider looked at him. “You convinced six rookies that naked skate drills were mandatory.”

“They bonded.”

“They filed complaints.”

“Anonymous complaints carry no weight.”

Bliss pointed toward Ryan and me. “Your captains are responsible for keeping everyone together, making sure you reach every event on time, collecting your team’s clues and scorecards, and preventing cheating.”

I looked at Charm. “She can handle the first three.”

“And cheating?” Bliss asked.

“I’ll handle that.”

“You’re supposed to prevent it.”

“I heard you.”

Charm covered her laugh with her coffee cup.

Bliss gave me a long look before turning toward the itinerary. “The castle-and-gardens scavenger hunt begins at ten. The cooking challenge starts at twelve thirty with the estate chef. Lawn games begin at three thirty as the rest of the families arrive, and the Bennett barbecue starts at six.”

“What about charades?” Aura asked.

“That’s the surprise family-versus-wedding-party competition after dinner.”

“It stopped being a surprise when you put it in the itinerary,” Rider said.

“The specific prompts are the surprise.”

“Who created the prompts?” Easton asked.

Bliss glanced toward her brothers.

The room erupted before she answered.

“No,” Aura said.

“Absolutely not,” Rider added.

Briggs removed his sunglasses. “I’ve changed my mind. This wedding is everything I hoped it would be.”
