COMPLIANCE

CYN

Agrin I couldn’t hide spread across my face as another throw pillow flew across the room.

Ever since we’d returned from the palace, Raelynn had been on a rampage, cursing and taking out her frustration on throw pillows and doors—basically, anything she could throw or hit without causing permanent damage was fair game.

I leaned against the wall next to the front door, crossing my arms.

I wouldn’t lie. Seeing her angry had me ready to throw her over my shoulder and carry her upstairs to let her take some of that aggression out on me.

“Not so fast.” Ash snatched her around the waist and hauled her up when she reached for the vase of flowers on the small table at the foot of the stairs, her feet kicking out.

Zeke glanced between me and her. The lost puppy look on his face just added to my amusement. She had him whipped, and I loved it.

When the front door opened and Ezra strolled in as if he hadn’t heard the commotion from the front yard, Raelynn froze and looked at him.

“You!” She bucked against Ash until he set her down. The moment her feet hit the floor, she stormed across the room, already ranting before she even reached Ezra. “I told you!”

Ezra paused, assessing Raelynn with the same empty expression he gave everyone.

Zeke crossed the room to stand near the entrance to the kitchen so he could see better. “What’d you tell him?”

“I don’t appreciate him thinking he can boss me around.”

Ash closed the distance, coming up behind her. “What’d he do?”

“‘We’ll make sure she complies,’” she mocked in a deep voice, making me snort.

“Was that supposed to be Ezra?”

She glared at me, and my cock twitched. “I don’t have time for you right now.” Her fiery gaze returned to Ezra. “What the hell did you mean by that?”

“Exactly what I said,” Ezra said, crossing the room to the kitchen.

She followed him.

Zeke glanced at me and Ash.

“We better follow them,” Ash said.

The whole situation amused me, but I wasn’t sure what to expect since I didn’t think Ezra and Raelynn had ever actually fought before.

Ezra got off on watching her pretend not to watch him.

He didn’t think we noticed, but both Ash and I clocked his shit right away.

He enjoyed seeing her rattled, but he never provoked her verbally. He’d even gone so far as to compromise and make adjustments to make her comfortable when she brought up things that bothered her—sometimes before she said a thing. Like, once she showed up, the house stayed a lot cooler than it used to because he knew she ran hot.

Raelynn smacked the counter as we entered the kitchen. “What are you gonna do if I don’t fall in line like a good little soldier?”

“I won’t do anything,” Ezra said, uncapping a bottle of water. “Father will.”

She bared her teeth, her fingers curling into a fist on the counter.

“If you want to risk being confined to the palace instead of your home until this is resolved, by all means, act like a petulant child and disobey.”
