Make or Break

My brothers were crafty. It would be just like them to get Ivy and Alexandra in on this - thinking I’d spill to them.

I took Duane’s chili to him and quickly delivered a plate to the dark-haired woman. Then I put the nachos in front of the girls.

Duane signaled to me by holding up a packet of saltines. I grabbed three more from under the bar and took them to him. I checked on the woman before moseying back to Lex, Jasmine, and Ivy.

“I’m impressed you can keep anything secret from your brothers,” Jasmine said.

“Yeah, I’ve learned to guard my privacy over the years,” I said.

“Are you sure you’re not seeing someone?” Alexandra asked.

I shot her a dry look. “You know how it is introducing someone to the bikers in your family. Did you introduce every single one to Cal?”

Alexandra returned my dry look. “No, but I don’t have brothers.”

Jasmine chuckled. “As someone who does, I never bring guys around my family until it’s absolutely necessary.”

I twisted a hand out. “And there you have it.”

“So there is someone,” Ivy said.

I chuckled. “Nice try, but I didn’t say that.”

Alexandra nodded. “No, but I get wanting to have some privacy.”

“I can’t wait to meet him,” Ivy said.

I took a deep breath, then leaned toward Ivy. “There isn’t anyone to meet.”

She smirked. “Or maybe I already have.”

Alexandra and Jasmine stared at her.

I widened my eyes. “No, but it looks like Ryan’s ability to jump to conclusions has rubbed off.”

She pointed a tortilla chip at me. “That’s not nice.”

“I’m not trying to be mean, Ivy. When I have someone in my life, you’ll be the second or third person to know it, with how my brothers operate.”

An hour later, the dark-haired woman asked for her check. Duane had moved closer to her, and the two of them were chatting.

I didn’t expect that to happen.

I left the check for her, and wandered back to Alexandra, Ivy, and Jasmine. “I’m surprised you came out tonight, Ivy, seeing as Ryan had the day off.”

She grinned. “Yeah, but I had to work today, and he’s at the clubhouse for the Monday night pool game.”

I tried not to react, though my body stiffened. Tundra should have been part of their game. I knew he wasn’t because we’d managed to sync our schedules so we were both working late this week.

Ivy twisted her head a touch at my reaction.

I did a slow nod. “I forgot, Killian’s back to a clean bill of health.”

Alexandra sipped her beer. “Yeah, but they still needed Lunatic to take Tundra’s place.”

I cut a glance through all three of them. “Are nachos filling enough or do either of you need an entree?”

“I’m having the chicken Caesar salad,” Jasmine said.
