“Right. Why the teddy bear comments?”

She shrugged. “First thing that popped in my mind, but I definitely see why you’re attracted to him. That touch of gray in his hair and his build, yum. And so very much your type.”

I leaned forward. “I don’t have a type.”

Only London could pull off a quiet cackle. “You most certainly do. Men with edges, and a soft side. I figure it had to do with your brothers being the way they are, but now I’m rethinking that.”

“Okay, don’t Freud out on me.”

“It is what I do, but did you talk to your Aunt Heidi about the midlife issue?”

“Yes. Her advice was to ask him. It’s been three days since you and I chatted, but he told me I was off my rocker. It isn’t midlife anything, and the fact we get along so well should have disabused me of that notion.”

“He said that word specifically?”

“No. He dropped copious f-bombs and said he’s crazy about me, and I’m trying to find a problem that isn’t even there.”

London held her hand out in concession. “All right, then I stand corrected.”

I nodded. “Where’d you get your nails done, and what color is that? It matches your blouse perfectly.”

Before she could answer, Tundra set a tray on the table and sat down beside me.

We all tucked into our food.

My man could put his food away faster than me. He sipped his drink and leaned back in his chair. “What do you do, London?”

She swirled a fry in ketchup before looking up at him. “I’m a family counselor.”

Tundra nodded. “You’re the reason she asked me about a midlife crisis.”

London chewed and swallowed her french fry. “Yes, but it’s a valid question, considering how rapidly you two are moving since Christmas.”

“It’s not rapid seeing as she and I have been chatting nearly every night for almost the last nine months. There’s hardly anything she doesn’t know about me…and I’d like to think there isn’t anything I don’t know about her, but seeing as she’s a woman, I’m probably wrong on that count.”

“That’s good to know. The secrecy though,” London squished her lips up in semi-disgust, “It’s a problem.”

“We’re aware of that, but this isn’t a typical situation.”

London nodded. “Yeah.” She looked at me. “You need to get Ryan on board.”

“Not Killian?” Tundra asked.

One of London’s waxed eyebrows ticked up. “In this case, no. Ryan likes to say he goes with the flow, but he has very strong opinions on this, and he’s been protective of who Mick dates before. Once he’s cool, Killian will probably follow suit.”

Tundra frowned. “They aren’t clients for you to analyze.”

“No, they aren’t, but it’s an occupational hazard.”

London popped the last bite of her pickle spear in her mouth.

Tundra waited a beat. “Did I pass your test?”

A smug grin crossed her face. “Not a test. However, I’m reassured that you make her happy beyond the bedroom. Now, if you prevent her from coming to the Funkfest with me, we got problems.”

He laughed. “You don’t have to worry about that.”
