Mabel, Ivy, and Alexandra came in to the lobby where we were waiting. All three of them were wearing lavender dresses, with the same fabric as London’s, but not identical styles.
“Where is Mickayla?” I asked, my voice gruff.
Gamble hurried past Alexandra and went outside.
Alexandra grinned. “She’s coming. Said you deserved a surprise for all of this. Sorry, but we had to tell her what was happening - especially when we stopped at your Mom’s house so she could change.” She glanced around the municipal building. “But she wouldn’t have had anywhere to get ready here.”
“It’s all good, Lex. I knew going to Mom’s without me would tip her off.”
Alexandra stepped aside. At the stunning sight behind her, my stomach dropped.
Mickayla was always gorgeous, but standing there in an elegant, shimmery, figure-hugging ivory gown, holding Gamble’s arm…my mouth went dry and my knees threatened to buckle.
God, no woman was more beautiful than her.
She walked inside with Gamble. “This surprise is even better than the ice cream shop.”
I cleared my throat. “You look so damned gorgeous, Wild Child. I’m glad you’re not pissed.”
Her eyes lit with a devious grin. “It’s not me you should be worried about. Uncle Mick is the one you should be concerned about.”
Little did she know, Mick and his wife were at Mom’s house…on Dad’s side of the house. Mick was going to cook up a ton of food while Punc, Yak, Bluff, and Lark brought in a ton of ice, beer, and other drinks. Trixie had recommended a baker, and a cake was being delivered within the hour.
I smiled and nodded. “I’ll deal with him the next time we ride out to Biloxi.”
The next twenty minutes passed like a blur.
We exchanged rings - I told Mabel where Mickayla was keeping mine and she grabbed it before they left the house.
Next thing I knew, the official said, “You may kiss the bride.”
I lowered my lips to Mickayla’s expecting a chaste kiss, but she pushed into me and kissed me like nobody else was watching.
At Mom’s house, I carried Mickayla over the threshold while the rest of the Riot MC hooted and hollered at our arrival.
“Ron! You don’t live here, so there’s no need to carry her inside,” Mom chided.
I locked eyes with Mom before putting Mickayla down. “I’m only gettin’ married once. I’m gonna do it up, right, Mom.”
Mickayla glanced around the room, her eyes wide with wonder. “Oh my God! You thought of everything. How did you get a wedding cake on such short notice?”
I grinned. “Trixie helped.”
“Really?”
“Don’t sound so surprised. She says ‘teamwork makes the dream work.’”
As though she heard her name, Trixie stalked toward us and pointed her finger at us. “You two are dancing to two songs for your first dance.”
“What?” I asked while chuckling.
She opened her mouth, closed it, then put her finger to her lips for a beat. “Actually, no. I don’t know if you had a song for your father-daughter dance, but I got that handled…if you trust me.”
Mickayla shot me some side-eye since that was similar to what I’d said before proposing. “I didn’t tell her anything.”
Trixie leaned toward Mickayla. “Don’t worry. Both songs have the same title, but are very different.”
“What is the title?” Mick asked.
