‘I’ll be the judge of that,’ she teased, scooting close to breathe me in.

She arched a brow. ‘You smell good, Vega.’

‘You know it.’

I slid under the cool sheets with a sigh.

Damn, it felt good to be horizontal, and even better next to her.

We lay facing each other, the lamp on her bedside table casting light as we reached for each other.

We traced the contours of each other’s faces, memorizing every line in the moonlight.

‘Hey.’

‘Hey you,’ I said. ‘I missed you.’

My eyes lingered on her lush mouth.

Hell, all I could think about was our last kiss. I couldn’t wait to feel her lips on me.

‘Missed you more.’

At one point, I caught her hand and pressed my mouth to her palm.

I wanted a hell of a lot more, but I was taking cues from her.

I sensed she was still hesitant, and also that once we lit our flame, we wouldn’t be able to stop the inferno of passion that would follow.

The bright Tennessee sun flooded the bedroom windows and hit my eyes as I blinked them open.

Only to find Raff standing at the foot of Ana’s bed, arms crossed, face rearranged in a fake scowl.

‘Friends, huh? Right!’ our son said, glowering while fighting a grin at the same time.

Ana stirred beside me, sat up, and caught sight of our son’s faux annoyance.

She let out a throaty laugh, burying her face in my chest as I shook with a silent chuckle.

‘Busted,’ I muttered. ‘Good to see you, kiddo.’

Raff stepped to my side, lips twitching in his otherwise solemn face as he leaned in for a hug.

‘Welcome back, old man.’

I arched a brow and shot him a glare. ‘Hey, who you calling old?’

With a wink, Raff marched toward the door.
