He leaned his head on my shoulder, his fingers playing with mine. The clock ticked, louder and louder. Somewhere in the distance, something broke.
“Why?” he breathed, pulling me closer to him.
“Because he hurt you, and anyone who hurts you must pay the price. If you want me to kill him, I will. If you want me to keep his death a secret from you, I will.” I turned around until I was looking right at him. I let him see the truth. “I will kill for you, Ryden.”
I couldn’t love him like a normal person would. I was too damaged for that. But I would love him in the only way I knew how.
“I love you, Yara West. You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me, even though you almost cut my dick off when we first met.”
“Hey!”
“What?”
“I’d have never harmed your dick. You know how much I love that thing. I love it more than I love you.” I winked, planting a kiss on his lips.
“Fuck, woman.” He laughed. “Tell me. When you find him, tell me, and then we’ll go and bury him together.”
That sounded like a great future plan to me.
“Ok.” I closed my eyes with a sigh. “Together.”
“Now, I want a taste of you.”
“Take it, then.”
“All of you.”
I laughed when he pulled me to him. I moaned when he kissed me like his world was ending tonight. I screamed when he kissed lower and lower… his tongue teasing me into submission. My whimpers grew louder, my moans turned longer.
He didn’t stop. Of course, he didn’t.
He tasted me until the world tilted. Until stars burned beneath my eyelids.
“You’re the best thing I have ever tasted, Red.” He sighed when he finally came up for breath. “The best thing.”

CLUB ONYX
NOAH
Light spilled between shadows. There were a million flashing colors. It hurt my head. Club Onyx was too loud. Too crowded. And there were too many bodies in the dark.
The people around me didn’t fear the dark as I had once done. They didn’t fear the bodies around them.
But what did they know?
“You came,” Grant said, placing an arm around me. “Want to come up and say hi to Enzo? He’s here.”
“Later,” I said, waving my brother off. If he hung around me, watching me like a vulture, I couldn’t do my thing.
And I have to do my thing!
The sooner it was done, the sooner I would be free of my mother.
“Be careful,” he said to me.
“I’m not a child.”
