He never interrupts. He never tells me I should date more. And he's never once tried to set me up with an actuary.
So, really, Dora should be nervous.
I've started talking to him about everything.
My students.
My classes.
Faculty gossip.
The fact that Professor Jacobs clips his toenails in the faculty lounge when he thinks no one is around.
Yes.
Really.
I wish I didn't know that. Now my Wolf knows it too.
I've even told him more about Coach Williams. And let me just say, he does not like Coach Williams.
Not at all.
Every time I mention the man's name, my Wolf growls.
It's adorable.
Possibly concerning.
But mostly adorable.
I still don't know what he is. My familiar theory hasn't gone anywhere. And I've researched.
A lot.
There’s just no definitive proof.
Nothing magical has happened exactly. No mystical bond snapped into place. No ancient Witch mark appeared on my skin. He doesn't speak into my mind.
Nothing like that.
But there is magic between us. I know there is. I feel it whenever he's near.
An awareness.
That's the only way I can describe it.
Sometimes I know he's there before I see him. The hairs on my arms rise. My magic gives a little hum beneath my skin.
And something inside me goes—There you are.
It's weird. But I like it.
Maybe too much.
Anyway…
Tonight, I have bigger problems.
