They were all very different, but I wasn’t going to point that out. Not when he sucked on my nipple through the thin fabric of my shirt while rutting his cock in just the right spot to light me up.

“I like this top.” He dragged his teeth across the fabric, toying with me. “It’s fun to play with.”

“And here I thought you were playing with me.”

His eyes flashed. “Oh, I am. And I’m having so much fun.” He fingered my other nipple with his thumb. “What do you think? Two solid years of practicing? Is that enough to get real good at this?”

He was talking but I was finding it harder and harder to follow. I wanted his mouth, his tongue, his cock. “Maybe it’s less about being good and more about how much time we want all to ourselves?”

When he didn’t reply I blinked my eyes open to find him grinning at me.

“What?”

“We have our whole lives ahead of us.”

True but… “We’re just getting started.”

That grin turned my insides to mush. It made me love him even more than I already did. “I’m going to clear this up right now.” His hand moved over my body, cupping my breasts, gripping my hips. “You’ll never lose me. Nothing will ever come between us or take some of me away. Not your father. Not a baby. Not baseball. I’m going to love you so hard, Willa. You’re going to be sick to death of me. That’s my goal at least.”

I held my breath. Was that what worried me? That if we got pregnant right away it would somehow ruin what we just got started? Did everything in my life have to keep coming back to this fear of loss?

He placed his hand over my belly. “I’m never going to stop making love to you. Physically when we can, of course, but there are so many other ways to love a person. You have me, Willa. All of me. I’m not going anywhere, no matter what happens. We could get pregnant right now or never. I’m here. I’m yours.”

That last remaining hole in my heart closed up. “Oh, Everett.” I threw my arms around his neck and burrowed into his chest.

He rolled onto his side and pulled me closer, kissing the top of my head. “I love you.”

I nodded, completely unable to speak. Every time I thought I’d made so much progress, I learned that there was something still broken. Until now. Those last echoes of doubt were finally silenced. My feet weren’t just on the ground, I was whole. As much as I wanted to believe I had it all together and was ready to face the future, I was wrong. I was still scared. Still clinging to the good things because I was secretly worried they were temporary.

I thought that was good enough.

I was wrong. This was better. “I love you.” I tugged on his beard until he gave me his lips. “I love you so much. I’m here now. All of me.” I kissed him with everything I had.

Then, when I couldn’t hold back another second, I straddled him and showed him how happy he made me.

“Edit the game down by twenty seconds and then cut straight to Jeri crying.” I pointed at the clips on Charley’s monitor. “We cannot waste this footage and I want to give it space. Maybe even go completely silent for the first ten seconds?” The first miracle was that Jeri cried at all. The second was that we got all of it on camera at the most spectacular angle. It caught the light just right. It showcased her personal emotion while having the entire cheering stadium as a backdrop.

It was gold.

Pure gold.

“Damn, Willa. I like it. I’m taking notes, by the way. Just know in about five years you’ll have some serious competition.” Charley loved to tease me.

I just loved that we worked so well together.

“So I have a favor to ask. I need some side editing done. I’ll pay you for it.”

She spun in her chair. “For Taking Tampa?”

“No, this…thing. I’d do it myself but I’m afraid if I tried to edit it I’d wind up committing a crime before I’m done.”

“Dang. What is it?”

I ran my hand down my face because it was the weirdest thing to explain, but Charley was also the kind of person I could trust and would totally understand. After all, we were standing in her home editing bay in the ginormous house her cheating ex built. Her story was as wild as mine.
