Moonveil and Magic

When Kael finally moved between my legs, the weight of him was staggering. He pinned me, his thick, scarred thighs forcing mine wide until I was completely open to him.

“Look at me, Ivy,” he growled, his golden eyes burning through the shadows.

I obeyed, my breath hitching as he guided his head to my entrance. The first thrust was a revelation of blunt force. He didn't slide in; he invaded, his massive girth stretching me to the point of a sharp, stinging pleasure that made my toes curl into the mattress. I felt every inch of him, the heavy, pulsing heat and the sheer, unyielding length that seemed to fill me until there was no room left for breath.

“Gods, Kael...” I sobbed his name, my fingers digging into the muscle of his shoulders.

He didn't stop. He drove deeper, finding a rhythm that was relentless and punishing. With every seat-shattering lunge, the knot at his base, that swollen, engorged bulb of primal flesh, hit my clit with the force of a hammer. The friction was unlike anything I’d felt with Lucien’s refined touch. This was raw. This was animal.

As he buried himself to the hilt, the knot rubbed and ground against me, stretching my opening and sending jolts of white-hot electricity straight to my core. It felt as though he were trying to merge our very bones. Each time he pulled back, the pressure of that engorged ridge dragging against my sensitive walls made my hips buck off the bed, chasing the sensation.

“You were made for this,” he rasped, his voice a guttural vibration that I felt deep inside my own body. “Made to be filled by me.”

He caught my wrists, pinning them above my head with one hand while the other dove between us. He used his thumb to press my clit directly against the crown of his knot as he lunged again. The double pressure, the internal fullness and the external grinding snapped the last of my control.

I spiralled, my vision flickering with golden sparks that matched his eyes. My internal muscles clamped around him in a desperate, rhythmic pulse, trying to draw him even deeper. Kael let out a long, tortured howl into the crook of my neck, his body stiffening as his own release hit. I felt the heat of him flooding me, the knot swelling even further until we were locked together, two halves of a single, violent storm.

I lay beneath him, shattered and soaring, listening to the rain roar outside and the heavy, territorial thud of a wolf’s heart against my ribs.

When dawn finally pried through the curtains, I awoke tangled in luxurious sheets, my body deliciously sore. Kael sat at the edge of the bed, lacing his boots, his shirt hanging loose over his muscular back.

“You should rest,” he said, his voice rougher than usual.

“You’re leaving?”

The question slipped out before I could catch it, laced with a hollow, aching note that made me wince. A strange, unwanted wave of sadness washed over me, an emotional gravity I wasn’t prepared for.

It wasn’t just the sex. It was the way the sudden silence in the room felt too heavy without the sound of his breathing. My body felt unnervingly loud, still vibrating from a night where he hadn’t just taken what he wanted—he had worshipped me. In the dark, between the frantic pulses of the storm, Kael had handled me as if I were something sacred, tending to my body, heart, and soul with a devastating reverence.

I’d spent so long being a sentinel, a protector, a hidden rebel, always the one holding the line. But last night, for the first time, someone had held me.

Now, the thought of him simply walking out that door left me feeling cold and unanchored. I hated how quickly he’d become the centre of my world. I hated that my magic, usually so sharp and defensive, was now purring in rhythm with his footsteps.

“Not yet.” He glanced over his shoulder, his smile faint but dangerous. “But soon. When I do, you’re coming with me. I’m taking you home.”

My stomach tightened. The word home felt like a trap and a promise all at once. Fear and anticipation fought for space in my chest. After a night like that, after being unmade and cherished in equal measure, I didn't know if I could ever walk back into my old life.

The wolf had marked me, and despite every rational thought screaming at me to run, the most primal part of me didn't want him to let go.

The Ride Home

The city of Ebonvale blurred into streaks of grey and neon as the Harley roared through the early morning mist. I clung to Kael, pressed my chest to his back, and my thighs tight against his. The engine’s vibrations shot through my core, a constant reminder of the man commanding the machine. I clung to him not out of fear, but because the physical connection was the only thing keeping my racing thoughts from spiralling, especially after a night that had fundamentally altered my world.

When we pulled up outside my shop, the early morning fog was thick. My building was a classic two-storey terrace. The bookstore occupied the ground floor, and my private sanctuary sat above it. Kael cut the engine, and for a long, suspended moment, the world was silent except for the ticking of cooling metal.

“Thanks,” I whispered, removing my helmet. My hands were steady now because the adrenaline of the night had settled into a cold and focused resolve.

A low and rhythmic rumble vibrated in Kael’s chest, a sound that was half-laugh and half-growl. “Don’t thank me yet, Ivy. This is only the beginning.”

I turned toward my front door, ready to retreat into my wards, only to find the entrance blocked.

Lucien.

He stood in the shadows of the doorway, his tailored coat immaculate even in the damp morning air. His arms were crossed, and his grey eyes blazed with a restrained fury that turned the air brittle.

“Ivy,” he said, his voice clipped and dangerously calm. “We need to talk.”

I was exhausted and sore, and the last thing I needed was a territorial standoff on my doorstep. I glanced back at Kael, who remained on the bike, every line of his body taut and his gaze locked on Lucien with a sharp, predatory intensity.
