His hand slipped beneath my shirt and moved over my waist. His palm was rough and warm against my skin.
He moved slowly enough for me to stop him.
I didn’t.
His thumb brushed the underside of my breast. Pleasure shot through me, making my breath catch. Sten’s mouth returned to mine as his hand closed around me.
My nipple tightened beneath his palm. He stroked it through my bra before slipping one finger beneath the fabric.
I moaned into his mouth.
His tail tightened around my upper thigh, pressing between my legs. Even through my leggings, the contact sent another wave of heat through me.
I gripped his horns and pulled him closer.
Sten growled.
His erection pressed against my stomach. The thin battle wrap did very little to hide its shape. There was something unusual beneath the leather, several firm ridges rather than the smooth length I expected.
I moved my hand lower.
Sten caught my wrist before I reached him.
“Robyn.”
The way he said my name cleared some of the fog from my thoughts.
If we continued, we weren’t going to stop at kissing.
“I want you,” I admitted.
His chest rose against mine. “Then why are we stopping?”
“Because we’re outside. Cairn and Georgie are somewhere behind us. And I have questions. About us. The bond. If this makes things…permanent. And even boring things like contraception.”
Disappointment crossed his face, but he released my wrist.
“You are right.”
“That sounded painful.”
“It was.”
I laughed and rested my forehead against his chest. His arms closed around me, but he didn’t try to start anything again.
For a while, we stood together and looked over the loch.
“Were you afraid?” he asked.
“At first.”
“And now?”
I looked up at the sky, then at the gharrgoil holding me as if he had no intention of ever letting me fall.
“Not of flying.”
