The girl nodded in understanding before turning to me and holding out the goose. I took it, barely able to contain my laughter when I realized just how large the thing was. It was probably only a few inches shorter than me.
“He is amazing.” I giggled, looking at Marshall.
“Do you actually like him?” he asked, brow furrowed.
“I love him,” I said, doing my best to lean up to give him a quick kiss. We were somewhat hindered by the fact that he was wearing Milo in the baby carrier on his chest, and I was holding a stuffed animal roughly my size. Still, I managed to get a quick peck in.
The stuffed animal was soft, and there was something so happy about him. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.
“What are you going to call him?” Noah asked.
“Duh. Goosifer. It’s the perfect name.” I grinned while Tobias groaned.
“Ignore the overly dramatic one. Do you want to go on the Ferris wheel?” Marshall asked.
I nodded. “Yes!” I loved Ferris wheels.
“Come on, you can bring Goosifer.” He chuckled, eyeing the goose with what I would almost consider affection. I hugged the stuffed creature tighter to me and beamed at him.
Smart man.
“Mr. Winters?” a sweet voice spoke from behind us.
“Jenn!” Emmett greeted his assistant. “Fancy seeing you here—are you having a good time?”
She stared at us for a moment, a myriad of emotions flittering across her face before she schooled her expression.
“Just checking out the fair, you know I adore these things. I didn’t realize you were coming!”
Emmett smiled. “Family time is important.”
“It is…” Jenn trailed off, staring at the baby in my mates arms.
I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something felt off.
“Anyway, I must be going—I’ll see you at the office, Jenn.” He dismissed her casually, his attention immediately returning to Milo and the rest of us.
Jenn hung around for a moment, then clearly got the message and left.
I tried not to dwell on it.
“While you guys ride the Ferris wheel, we are going to give the bumper cars a whirl, unless you want us to wait for you?” Noah asked.
I shook my head. “Me and Goosifer are more than happy doing the Ferris wheel instead of the bumper cars.” I wasn’t one for particularly bumpy rides.
“I’ll take Milo for you, Marshall.” Emmett held out his hands, and they made quick work of switching the baby around. It was actually impressive to see how smoothly they accomplished it.
Marshall, Goosifer, and I made our way toward the line for the Ferris wheel.
When I noticed the professionals standing around the ride, I turned to Marshall and spoke quietly. “I’m glad to see the heavy machinery isn’t operated by teenagers.”
“Yeah, that would be concerning.”
With Milo traded to Emmett, Marshall arms were free, so he placed one arm around my back, pulling me close to him. I didn’t shy away from the touch. I liked being near him more than I could describe.
“Is this when you tell me you’re afraid of heights?” I grinned at him.
“Never. That’s Emmett.”
