Those tiny nightdresses showed off those perfect legs, and my mind instantly went to them wrapped around me.

What was happening to me? I didn’t fall all over myself because of a woman. I’d simply never found anyone that attractive. But from the moment Summer had come to Willow Grove, I’d been obsessed.

“Okay, which pile shall I start with?” she said, grabbing a highlighter and looking at me expectantly.

“You don’t have to,” I said, but my voice was weak, even to my own ears.

“I want to! You need to get some sleep too. Finishing will help you with that.”

She took a stack and started rifling through. “Do you have any sort of system?” she asked.

I shook my head.

She probably thought I was an idiot.

“No worries, different systems work for different people. Different strokes for different folks, as you would say.”

Keeping my brain from dwelling on how her lips said the word stroke was surprisingly difficult.

Under the table, the blood flow to my cock had increased considerably. No matter what, I was going to suffer because the last thing I wanted was her to think I was a complete pervert.

When it came to her, I totally was, but I didn’t need to advertise that for the entire world—or even just to her.

While my mind had been thoroughly in the gutter, Summer had started making piles.

“Okay, these are monthly, let’s start there!” she explained.

“Huh… I never thought of that.”

“It simplifies things a bit!”

We took the next ten minutes slowly organizing the papers into their respective stacks.

The usually bland and mundane job felt so much more enjoyable with Summer next to me. Even though the scope of the work hadn’t changed whatsoever, simply having her near made it better.

“What brought you down here?” I asked. She hadn’t brought a teether for Milo, or got herself a drink. Had she come down here just to see me? The thought made my heart hammer against my chest.

Summer’s nose scrunched adorably. “Would you believe me if I told you I was avoiding my bed because there was an alpha with tuna and olive breath in there?”

A loud, rumbling chuckle escaped my chest, and I did my best to keep it down as everyone else was asleep.

We had eaten pizza for dinner again—We probably should have made something more substantial, but we were all tired from the long week. Before Summer joined the pack, it wasn’t unusual for us to have pizza two or three times a week.

“That bad?” I asked, shaking my head.

Summer nodded. “Even though he brushed his teeth several times, every time he breathes in my direction, it’s disgusting. Most of the time he smells amazing, and he’s handsome. Just the pizza…”

I couldn’t help but laugh, shrugging as I moved to the next paper. “Well, a distraction you’ve found.”

We continued on for a while, moving much quicker now that there was someone to help me, someone with a head for this kind of thing too. It was genuinely surprising how much smoother it flowed with her lending a hand. As much as I hated to admit it, Summer’s skills would be really nice to have around long-term.

As we worked, I had to remind myself to stop staring at her, but it was nearly impossible to keep my eyes from drifting toward her.

She let out a long yawn.

“You’re exhausted. You need to sleep,” I said firmly, standing.

Summer stayed sitting down, scrunching her nose. “I like it down here,” she whined.
