"Fuck."

Denali eyes raked over me. “You like her,” he said.

I scoffed at the accusation. “She’s your sister.”

He shook his head. “No. It’s more than that.”

It didn’t matter if it was.

I wasn’t the man for her.

“Look,” I said roughly. “I just feel bad that happened to her. That’s all.”

The look on his face said he didn’t believe a word out of my mouth, but thankfully he let it go.

“Anyhow.” I picked up my beer and drained, then got to my feet. “I just came for the rest of my shit. I’ll catch y’all later.”

With a low wave, I headed for the stairs, taking them two at a time so I could get back to the apartment quickly.

After all, I was supposed to be keeping an eye on Joy.

And that job suddenly felt a hell of a lot more important than it had before.

Chapter Five

Joy

It was official.

I’d lost my damn mind.

That was the only logical reason I could come up with for why I was so obsessed with my new neighbor.

It had to be, right?

I mean, he’d made it more than clear he wasn’t interested.

A smarter woman would take the hint.

Ignoring my stupidity, I opened the display case, grabbed a sheet of bakery tissue, then started grabbing different pastries from the rack to add to the box.

Some chocolate Long Johns for Alex, glazed chocolate twists for Hoss, bear claws for Outlaw.

“I think I should go with you.” Ian, my best friend who also worked for me, said.

Glancing over my shoulder at him, I arched a brow. “Absolutely not.”

He frowned. “Don’t forget the iced jellies for Fury. And why not?”

“You know why,” I said, adding four iced jellies to the box.

He rolled his eyes.

Ian had a major crush on my brothers. Well, actually, he was crushing on my brother’s entire team.

Apparently he had a type, and tall, tattooed, bossy jerks were it.

I normally didn’t mind his shameless flirting when Drew or one of the other bikers that loved to get on my nerves came in. It was usually the quickest way to get rid of them. That wouldn’t fly today. I wanted to get into that warehouse my brother and his team were staying in so I could find out what they were up to.
