CHAPTER 4
JUDGE
“How is she?”
The question gives me away, and I know it by the look on Ghost’s face.
My VP smirks at me from where he sits. A girl I don’t recognize is straddling him, grinding against him. I don’t miss the death glares being shot her way from Misty, who’s currently in the kitchen helping to fix lunch today.
Ghost ignores my question, grasps the girl’s chin, and presses a kiss to her lips. “How about you help Misty with lunch? I’ll find you later.”
She nods and climbs off him, giggling when he smacks her ass.
Then he jerks his chin toward the stairs. “She was told she could come down for breakfast, but she didn’t come down.”
“She’s not eating?” Alarm filters through me, but I keep it out of my voice.
I’m too attached already. I can feel it in my bones.
This woman is made for me. She’s strong. A fighter. She’s everything I never knew I wanted. All this time, I figured I’d be alone because no one could tempt me away from club business.
Kaylie proved me wrong.
Ghost’s chuckle drags me to the present. “You know, I never thought I’d see the day when you’d put our club at risk for a girl.”
I bristle, turning on my VP with warning in my voice and my stance. “Nothing comes before the club.”
Ghost isn’t bothered by my reaction. He’d never accuse me of something like this in front of the men, but our relationship goes back to our roots, and he’s not afraid of speaking his mind when we’re alone.
He shrugs, his smirk widening. “What happened last night is already making the rounds. It’s dangerous. Maybe you should just give her back. Keep the peace.”
I open my mouth to tell him exactly where he can shove his suggestion, but movement near the hallway catches my attention.
Kaylie.
She disappears around the corner, and a second later, a door slams.
Fuck. She heard him.
I leave Ghost behind and stride toward the bedrooms.
Tank is standing outside her door, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else.
“No one enters,” I grunt.
He nods and steps aside.
I enter to find Kaylie frantically trying to open the window. She’s already managed to find the locking mechanism, and my heart practically stops when I realize how close she is to escaping.
“Don’t even fucking think about it.”
She startles, but instead of backing away, she reaches for the window again.
I cross the room in three strides, grab her wrists, and spin her around, pressing her back against the wall. One knee slips between her legs, pinning her in place as I hold her hands above her head.
She’s breathing heavily, her breasts heaving beneath a fresh shirt. Ghost followed through. One of the girls brought her clothes and toiletries. She smells floral and sweet, and fuck if that doesn’t make holding her this close even harder.
“What do you think you are doing, Little Mouse?”
