“So, it was just luck that this movie was playing tonight?”

“Pure luck.” Grabbing a handful of popcorn, he shoved it into his mouth.

Natalia tilted her head and stared at him unblinkingly. When she didn’t turn her attention back to the screen, he finished chewing before answering.

“I might have searched for your profile on the dating sites. I read that you enjoy scary movies.”

When he saw her eyes darken with anger, he pushed the nachos toward her, letting her have the rest.

“To be fair, every man who logs on to the site can see the same information.”

“You didn’t have to be sneaky. All you had to do was ask me.”

“Let’s be real. If I’d asked what you wanted to do tonight, what would you have told me?”

“I don’t know, since I wasn’t asked. What if I’d said I enjoyed going to a nice restaurant and dancing?”

“I’d take you,” he answered easily. “I enjoy dancing. I especially like eating.”

Laughter filled her eyes at his comeback. “What’s your favorite kind of food?”

“Anything edible.” He shrugged. “I’m not picky.”

She gave him a disbelieving look.

“I’m not.” He rolled his eyes.

“Everyone has something they hate to eat. What’s something you wouldn’t eat?”

“Nothing. I’ve eaten it all.” Seeing that she wasn’t going to drop the subject, he rolled his eyes again. “If you want specifics, I’m not crazy about anything pickled.”

“Okay. Did that hurt?”

“What?”

“Telling me something personal about yourself.”

Wizard gave her a wink when she reached for another chip from his nachos.

“I figured sharing my food would earn me enough brownie points without having to give away my life’s secrets on our first date.”

“You thought wrong. Now that that’s settled, what’s your favorite?”

Shifting uncomfortably on the tailgate, he watched her tongue dart out to remove a dollop of cheese from the corner of her mouth.

“Hamburgers and fries,” he told her hoarsely. “What’s yours?”

Giving him a concerned look, she handed him his drink. “Pasta. Did you choke?”

“No.” He cleared the lust from his throat as he narrowed his eyes at her. Something told him she wasn’t being truthful.

“Really?”

Natalia made a face at him. “If you tell anyone, I’ll deny it, but a good hamburger might be my favorite, too.”

“You can’t beat a good burger.” He nodded in agreement.

“Where’s your favorite place to get one?”
