“Look at you.” I can barely get the words out. “So fucking good for me. Such a sweet thing when you stop pretending you don’t want this.”
His hips lift beneath me, chasing more, and then his thighs seize.
“Uh-uh.” I pull away quickly, taking myself out of his reach in one move. “Not yet. You don’t get to waste it in my mouth. I want it while you’re full of my cock and saying my name.”
He whines, high and broken and furious, reaching after me before I can get far.
“No. No, you don’t get to do that. I was right there, you absolute bastard, I was right there.”
“I know you were, puppy. That’s why I stopped.”
His breathing turns ragged. “Why would you do that to me?”
“Because you’re coming once tonight.” I turn myself around and catch his face in both hands, kissing him until the complaint disappears between us. “And it’s going to be exactly where I want you.”
He follows when I pull away, mouth searching for mine. “Please.” He chases my mouth again. “I’ve never asked anyone for anything in my life, and you’ve got me begging, and I absolutely hate it. But please.”
I catch him beneath the jaw, holding his attention. “Kneel for me, pet. On your knees. You’re going to thank me when you get there.”
“I am literally asking you to touch me. What more do you want?”
That nearly makes me laugh. “There he is.”
His hands close around my wrist, eyes fixed on mine.
“Want me to let you go?”
“You know I don’t.”
“Then tell me what you do want.”
He hesitates for one furious second. “You. I want you, arrogant prick. Is that clear enough?”
“Getting there.”
I drag my tongue slowly across his open mouth from one corner to the other. He chases it, but I pull back before he can catch me, releasing him at the same time and letting him drag in a breath.
“Want me?” I ask.
His eyes flash. “You already know I do.”
“Then show me how sweetly you can beg. Beg like you did in that cave, when you didn’t know what you were asking for.” I drag my thumb across his lower lip. “You know now.”

Air catches painfully in my throat when Asher finally lets go, and I draw a breath.
“On your knees, pet. That’s twice I’ve asked.”
I’m already on the rug. All I have to do is roll over, push myself up, and give him what he asked for. I shouldn’t. I’ve spent my whole life standing up because somebody had to. Getting Onyx out of bed. Counting medicine. Finding food. Working when I was sick, tired, or scared because nobody was coming to do any of it for me.
Now Asher is standing over me, asking me to do the opposite. Stop deciding. Stop carrying. Let him take over. The thought should terrify me more than it does, but heat crawls through me as I turn onto my knees.
Is this what it feels like to let someone else carry me?
Look at what you’ve become. I wait for the shame, but it doesn’t come.
