I wanted to know what the hell was going on, especially after Banks had been acting so strange, but my body was begging me to get in that tub.

“Aight, but don't think I'm forgetting.”

He laughed. “I ain't expecting you to.”

I shook my head and headed upstairs. Once I got to my room, I put my purse down, found something comfortable to wear, and went into the bathroom to run my water. I added some bubble bath before getting undressed and easing myself into the tub.

The warm water felt so damn good against my sore body that I closed my eyes and leaned back. I had been waiting all day to do this shit.

By the time I finished soaking, I was feeling a little better. I dried off, moisturized my skin, and slipped into some comfortable clothes before heading back downstairs.

When I got to the kitchen, Cassian was fixing two plates.

“Damn, it smells good in here,” I said, walking over to see what he'd made.

“Appreciate it, ma. You feeling better?”

“Yeah, that bath helped.”

“Good. Come eat.”

I sat down at the island while he brought my plate over. I thanked him and picked up my fork, looking over the food.

“Okay, chef. I see you.”

I took a bite, and I wasn't even about to lie. That shit was good. I looked up and caught Cassian watching me.

“What?”

“I'm waiting on you to say something.”

“About what?”

“The food, ma.”

I laughed. “It's good, damn. You want me to give you a five-star review or something?”

“Nah, I'll take that.”

He sat down with his plate, and we ate while talking about random things. I asked him what he'd been doing all day, and he told me he'd been at the office handling business. Once I finished eating, I put my fork down and looked over at him.

“Aight, Cassian. What's going on?”

He finished chewing before setting his fork down.

“Marlin came by my office today with some information about David.”

Just hearing that man's name irritated the hell out of me.

“What about him?”

“We found out he's got somebody at your job keeping him updated on you.”

I frowned. “At my job?”

“Yeah.”

“What the fuck you mean somebody at my job?”
