His sharp jawline is absolutely bitable.
His eyes lock on me and don’t miss anything. Everything about him is so ethereal and perfect.
When his dark fingers toy over my ear and play with my hair, I can’t help but lean into his touch.
I wince as that stabbing pain twists low in my stomach.
He’s definitely making my heat worse.
“If I was so special, why did my family reject me?” I ask.
Arwan considers my question as he watches my lips. I can’t help but flick out my tongue to wet them. “The Rinholds never know when they have something valuable,” he says. “I’ve made a few deals with them over the years, and if I’ve learned anything about them, it’s what a bunch of fools they are.”
My stomach flips.
He knows my family.
“What kind of deals?” I ask.
Now I’m getting somewhere.
His touch glides along my jaw. “I wish they would have told me about you sooner,” he says, which isn’t exactly an answer to my question, but he seems infatuated with my lips as he comes close enough for me to feel his breath on my mouth.
I don’t dare move.
“What did they tell you?” I ask.
“It’s more of what they showed me,” he says as his lips brush mine again. “Your bloodline is capable of vicious, bloodthirsty things.”
I freeze.
He’s speaking about my brother.
I’m sure of it.
It takes every ounce of my strength to push him away. My stomach twists, and I cry out as pain lances through my core, but I can’t be near Arwan.
Not if he’s working with my brother.
“Get away from me,” I snarl, then whimper as I hold my stomach. Stabbing pain jolts through me, followed by a melting sensation that comes from the inside.
Arwan reaches for me as I lunge away.
“Don’t come any closer!”
I can’t be anywhere near him.
But I can’t survive without him.
This is it.
This is how I die.
CHAPTER 24
My body melts from the inside, demanding that I stop running from Arwan. But I can’t stomach the thought of him touching me when all I can picture is my brother laughing.
Maybe he planned this.
