How to Hide a Body for Halloween

Unfortunately, it’s just trial and error until you find someone. Then you’ve just got to hope they don’t screw you over.

I’m not one for gambling so I decided to remove myself from the equation and focus on myself and work.

“Hey, beautiful,” a deep voice says next to me. “Buy you a drink?”

I look up to see a delicious man with sleeve tattoos and his shirt unbuttoned in that slutty way I like on men. He’s dressed up like a vampire and is eyeing me like I’m his dinner for tonight.

And shit.

I might just be.

Look, I’ve written off relationships. Not sex.

And boy, do I love sex.

I smirk. “Drinks are already paid for. How about a dance?”

He licks his lips, his eyes running over my body. He opens his mouth to reply but a woman dressed as a witch with beautiful black and purple hair and a purple crystal necklace rushes in my direction and shoves me.

Gorgeous woman, nasty attitude.

My eyebrows shoot up. “I hope you know that was a battery.”

“You haven’t seen a battery yet,” she snarls. “You were flirting with my man.”

The man has retreated behind her, looking terrified.

Typical.

I shrug. “He’s cute. However, he flirted with me first. Am I supposed to have some magical power to know he was taken? You should be angry with him for initiating instead of attacking me like a bird.”

Val and Mariah must’ve seen the commotion and they pop up on either side of me, ready to tussle.

“What did you just call me?” she sneers.

“B…I…R…D,” Val spells out.

“Chirp Chirp,” Mariah follows up.

We burst out into laughter, and she looks like she is going to blow.

“You better be careful,” she warns, her whole vibes shifted. “Or you might find yourself having a really bad time.”

“What?” I mock. “Are you going to hex me?”

The corner of her lip lifts. “Actually, yes.”

I hold my hand to my chest with wide eyes, faking fear. “Oh my god. Magic! I’m so scared.”

“Shake my hand,” Purple Hair says, smiling sardonically at me. “Shake it if you do not believe me.”

I eye her hesitantly, but then shrug.

What’s the worst that can happen?

I reach out to grab her hand, but before our fingers can touch, Mariah yanks my arm back.

“Evie, are you serious?” Mariah looks at me crazy. “Magic is freaking real. My soon to be husband is a goddamn demon. You don’t know what can happen.”
