“I said give me a damn phone.”

I reached for her wrist, and that was my mistake. Azaria moved fast as fuck. Her hand went around me and found the gun at my waist before I realized what she was doing. By the time security reacted, she had pulled it from the holster and put the barrel against my forehead.

Everybody in the hallway froze.

Azaria looked proud as hell too. “Yeah, nigga. Ain’t think I was that quick.”

I looked from the gun to her face.

“Now give me a damn phone.”

One of my guards started toward us.

I raised my hand. “Don’t.”

He stopped.

Azaria was breathing hard from the adrenaline, but the gun stayed against my forehead. She really thought she had me.

I moved my head closer to the barrel.

“La sécurité est enclenchée, femme.” The safety is on, woman.

Her gaze dropped toward the gun for a second.

That was enough time for me to grab her wrist and turn it until the gun came loose. I caught it before it hit the floor and put it back in my holster.

Azaria barely had time to process what happened before I pulled her against me and kissed her.

Her entire body went stiff.

My hand stayed at the back of her neck while her lips remained under mine for a few seconds. She eventually pushed against my chest, and I let her go.

Azaria stared at me with anger all over her face. “I hate you.” She wiped her mouth as if she could erase what happened, but she was still staring at me. “You’re fucking crazy,” she said.

“You stole my gun.”

“Because you won’t give me a phone.”

“That don’t make you sound less crazy.”

“Fuck you, Ares.”

I walked past her toward the staircase because arguing with her in front of my staff wasn’t how I planned to spend the rest of my day.

“You want a phone?”

She didn’t answer.

I stopped at the bottom of the stairs and looked back at her.

“You’re going to have to earn it.”

“Earn it?” She looked at me as if I had lost my mind. “I’m a grown-ass woman.”

“Then start acting like one and stop pulling guns you don’t know how to use.”

“I know how to use a gun!”
