He gave a harsh shake of his head. Roared when he banged it on the undercarriage.

“You okay under there?” Elena called, now more than halfway across the shop.

Not even close.

“Yep.”

He tried to focus, then he groaned when a new pair of legs showed up in his view.

Reluctantly, he rolled out, grabbed a rag, and wiped his hands as he sat up.

“You didn’t call me back.” Felicity leaned on the side of the car.

She was pretty. Really fucking pretty. She wanted out of the life and wanted to take him with her.

If he was smart, he’d let her do it.

“Been busy.”

Hurt pinched her brow. “That’s what you always say.”

“And it’s always the truth.”

“Is it?”

He couldn’t help but turn his ear when he heard Elena’s voice as she chatted with Silas in the office.

Distracted in a beat.

Felicity huffed. “It’s always her, isn’t it?”

He didn’t recognize the sound that came out of his throat. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You always choose her over me.”

Disbelief shot from his nose. “She’s my family.”

Felicity crossed her arms over her chest and looked into the nothingness. Her voice turned pained. “You said we were together. That you weren’t with anyone else.”

Regret hit him.

He wasn’t. He was just the disgusting fuck who wanted to be.

But he couldn’t have Elena. He had to remember that.

He sighed and swiped a hand over his mouth. “Listen, I’m sorry. Things have been nonstop with the club. I’ll come hang out with you tonight.”

He should cut her off. End it. Go to the clubhouse to find someone else to sink into.

Unfortunately, not one fucking option fit right.

“Okay,” Felicity conceded. He knew she was a good person. Had her own traumas that had led her here. Was trying to set her course right.

“Seven?” Hope filled her voice.

He gave her a tight nod even though he shouldn’t.

That douche was going to find himself dead in a ditch. Right where he should have left his mangled car that had been hauled into the shop.
