“What I’m afraid of is how fucking bad I want you.” It heaved out like stones.
Words tumbling like an ancient temple falling to its ruins.
She fisted a hand in the tee under my cut and tugged me closer. “Don’t be ashamed of it, Trevan. Don’t be ashamed of me.”
Ashamed of her?
Never.
I was ashamed of myself.
“Lena.” It fluttered out. Too fucking soft, and I edged an inch closer.
Breathing her breaths. “I—”
The door clattering open behind us had me jumping back and whirling around at the same time.
Silas stood a raging man in the middle of the doorway, his words shards as he spat them out. “They found that motherfucker. Let’s go.”
FIFTY-FOUR
TREVAN
We burst into Church, Silas striding ahead of us to the head of the long table.
It was the middle of the day, but it was still dim inside, the dull chandelier the only light flooding the cavernous room.
The demons our Madman had painted on the walls seemed to crawl and thrash. Shrill cries that hungered for violence.
Silas didn’t sit. He planted his hands on the tabletop.
Phoenix and I rushed to take up our spots to the left and right sides of him.
Harsh breaths ripped from our president as the rest of the Crows poured into the room.
He didn’t take the time to call a meeting to order.
“Got a call from Cash. He located Shayne Ellison. Picked up on some communication between him and a group out of New Jersey. He’s staying about three miles east of the resort here in Crimson Creek. A cabin in a remote area. Difficult to traverse, but he sent aerial images, so we have the best way in.”
Fury rioted in my spirit.
My hands fisted and unclenched in a rhythmic pattern. A beat that called for utter destruction.
We finally had this bastard.
Elena would finally be at peace.
“Nothing that we haven’t handled before,” Brody asserted, basically spitting it, all the easy arrogance he normally wore eradicated in his own thirst to bring this monster down.
“No, and as far as Cash can tell, he’s alone. One against us. He has no chance, but that doesn’t mean we get complacent.”
Silas’s eyes swept the room. “He has to know we’ll be coming for him. He’s been taunting us for weeks, and after this morning? I’m pretty sure it’s the chase he wants. We have to be prepared for every eventuality.”
“He wants to play, then we play.” Gravel ground from Phoenix’s mouth.
“Yeah, motherfucker is going down, and he’s going down deep.” Brody itched where he stood to my left.
“Bastard is dead,” Silas agreed, every muscle in his body rippling with the need for destruction.
