He swayed me a little more before he rumbled, “And I always want you to feel good. That’s the way you’re supposed to feel.”

Oh, the directions my mind sprinted with that.

“I feel good when I’m with you,” I whispered hoarsely.

He gathered me a little closer. “You shouldn’t. You shouldn’t want to, let alone have to spend all your time with me.”

He said it like he was the one who was the burden.

“It’s right where I want to be.” I never failed to admit too much when it came to him. But I wouldn’t hide it.

A plaintive sigh was released at the top of my head. “And I’m the greedy fuck who doesn’t know how to let you go.”

“I’d hunt you down and kill you if you did.” It was a choked, choppy tease.

Trevan chuckled as he curled those massive arms tighter around me. “You’re just as violent as the rest of us, aren’t you?”

“Do tickle fights count?”

His laughter was rough, scraping the air and my tingling flesh. “Oh yeah. I’m terrified when you pull out those little daggers.”

I pushed my fingers through the front of his cut and dug my blunt nails into his sides. “What? These?”

Energy rolled. Warm and intoxicating.

His smile soft as he tipped his gaze down at me. Staring at me for the longest time before his expression dampened with regret and his own selfless hope.

“Want you to find love, Lena. Love and joy and a family. I want you to have it all. I know that’s what you really want.”

My face pinched with severity. “And I just want this. Right now. This moment with you. I’ll cherish it forever.”

The truth was, I cherished all of them.

Reservations filled him full. “And I should get you home.”

“I don’t want it to end.” The petition had me curling my fingers into his shirt.

He hesitated, his brows twisting in uncertainty, before he reached out and trailed his fingertips down the angle of my jaw.

A wispy moan got free of me, and I exhaled a tremorous sigh.

“I don’t ever want it to end,” I whispered.

His expression churned through a thousand things, those coffee eyes swilling into a simmering smolder.

The air thinned and darkened at the same time.

“Did you like it? Did you like it when you touched me yesterday?” I didn’t know how I found the courage to lay it out that way. To demand it.

But I tilted my chin up at him and met the scalding inferno that blazed from his big, toiling body.

Strong hands gripped me tighter, and he leaned down a fraction.

“You said today was the best day of your life?” Roughened words scraped from his mouth. “Well, yesterday was mine. Getting that little bit of you.”

“Do you want more?” I basically gulped it.

Trevan’s chuckle was raw. “Do I want more? It’s all I can think about. Getting more of you. Want to consume every bit of goodness that you possess. Make it my own.”
