I gulped, my nod mortified as my hands flew up to cover my face. “Yes. Oh God, Brin. I couldn’t tell if I was going to die from the embarrassment or the pleasure that was rolling through me.”

“If it was the pleasure, then I’m pretty sure you know your answer,” she teased, then concern took over her scowl. “And how did he react?”

“After I scrambled off him completely horrified when I realized what had happened? He told me it was nothing to be ashamed of and was no big deal. That I just was dreaming, and it was natural.”

“But did it feel like that to you? A big deal?”

“It felt like I was finally touching on exactly where I was meant to be.”

“Your heart knew,” she whispered.

“It’s known all along.”

It’d always known.

I glanced at him, unable to purge what he’d said from my mind.

“The way I see you is the entire problem, Little Apple. Because I can’t fucking have you.”

What did that mean?

Was he admitting it?

The man was all surly and grumpy where he sat in a chair across from Silas, sipping from his first beer since he was on babysitting duty.

I slid a shot glass to Brinley, then picked up the other. “To chasing after what we really want.”

Understanding filled her smirk. “To chasing after what we really want.”

She clinked her glass against mine and we tossed them back.

Flames burned down my throat and settled in my belly, and another wave of euphoria rolled through my body.

I bowed with it just as I slammed the shot glass onto the table.

“And what is it you really want?” Brinley pressed like I was going to admit something scandalous right there in front of my brother.

Okay, so I kind of wanted to. I wanted to shout it. Or maybe just climb onto Trevan’s lap and rub myself up against his hardness.

Maybe fuck him right out in the open on that chair, like was currently happening with three other Crows.

At the thought, heat whipped across my face, and I nearly stumbled as the thoughts flooded my mind.

Okay, maybe I didn’t really want to go that far. I might not have a ton of experience, but I doubted I was that much of an exhibitionist.

I mean, I would want people to know that Trevan was mine, but I didn’t want them looking at what was mine.

Maybe his cut would say, Property of the Crimson Crows’ Princess, rather than me wearing a shirt that claimed I was the property of him.

I mean, I knew that’s what some of the guys called me. Never to my face, but I heard the rumbles and chuckles behind my back.

Through the blur in my mind, I remembered I hadn’t answered Brinley’s question, so I threw my hands overhead and shouted, “What I really want is to dance. Get that hot booty on the dance floor, baby.”

I reached back out and grabbed Brinley’s hand.

“I’m not sure I can walk, let alone dance,” she whined.

“Don’t be a party pooper. I thought you said you missed me?” That time, it was my turn to whine. “Because if you did, you’d definitely want to dance with me.”
