“Don’t think there’s any worry in that. It’s going to be amazing. Just like you.”
A flush rushed to my cheeks. The man needed to stop talking to me like that. I knew he only meant it in a way that amounted to him considering me family.
A sister.
But my brain spiraled to places that it shouldn’t.
“I hope so.”
“I know so,” he murmured as he wound around me, carrying the rest of my things into the bedroom.
The suitcases thunked as he set them onto the hardwood floor.
I followed, trying to keep my breath from whooshing out at the sight of Trevan standing at the foot of my brand new, very big bed.
Covered in black and plum linens.
I bet he’d look really good in it.
Preferably naked.
“Think that’s everything,” he said like I wasn’t nearly having a coronary at the thought.
I set the box onto the dresser on the right next to the door, then realized there was a box I hadn’t left there beside it.
I grinned when I saw the envelope tacked to the top.
For my bestie/sister/favorite girlie in the world.
I squealed, immediately knowing it was Brinley.
“What is it?” Trevan asked.
“It looks like another housewarming gift from Brinley,” I said as I pulled the card free.
“Just a few things that every girl needs in her new place,” I read aloud. “Make sure you use them all. Love you to bits and am so proud of you. To soaring, the way you deserve to do.”
She capped it with a winkie face.
My heart swelled.
“She’s good to you,” Trevan said.
“The best,” I agreed. I loved that she’d become my sister. My closest friend and confidant. That I could trust her to support me and encourage me.
She was the one who’d given me the courage to finally demand what I needed.
I dug into the box, laughing at the contents. An eye mask and ear plugs since she’d teased that Trevan probably snored, a journal to keep track of my favorite things about each day, a scribbled drawing that Kai had no question made for me.
My heart squeezed with the thoughts of that baby.
God, it was going to be strange not getting to see all of them every second of every day.
Then my eyes went wide when I pulled out the last item.
Heat rushed my cheeks.
It was a bulk pack of condoms with a sticky note attached.
