“Necromancy,” Lysander said, fury filling his voice.
Kage nodded briefly. “Someone sent them.”
Lysander’s jaw flexed, his hands curled into fists, and for a moment I worried about my bathroom walls. Kage watched him. “You’d have figured it out, too. If you’d stuck around.”
Lysander’s eyes flashed partly with anger, but I caught amusement there, too. “I stuck around long enough to keep her alive.”
Kage grinned. “I’m not arguing with the results.”
Lysander exhaled. “Did you find who did it?”
“Of course—House Mortis, obviously. Found a Fourth Year lurking not far off. Stench of magic all over him.”
“What did you do with him?” I demanded. “I want to see him.”
Kage and Lysander exchanged a look. “I already handled it,” Kage said slowly.
I shook my head. “Right.” I pointed at Lysander. “He can get inside my dreams. Apparently that’s rare.”
Lysander held very still. Kage looked at me, saying nothing.
“Meanwhile, you … you feel like a pull.”
“You feel a pull?” Kage’s expression was blameless.
“Fuck you,” I snapped. I closed my eyes. “Yes, I feel a pull. What did you do to me?”
“We made a vow,” Kage said carefully. “Viktor is no longer your archon, is he?”
I shook my head, wary. “No.” Thank the fucking Bloodmaiden for that.
“You lied to me,” I accused him. “You told me we weren’t mates.”
“I didn’t say that. Not exactly. Besides, you don’t want the truth.”
I stared at him, stunned. “Maybe I don’t want it, but I deserve it. What the fuck is happening to me?”
“To you?” Lysander lifted his hands, pushing his hair back off his face. “It’s not just happening to you, Regan.”
“Your bond with Viktor dissolved when we made the Blood Vow,” Kage said quietly.
I nodded, trying to get a hold of myself. “All right.”
“Lysander and I were already consorts,” Kage went on. “We go back … a long time.”
I looked back and forth between them. That tracked. “All right,” I said again, not knowing what else to say. “So I’m the intruder here.” I took an unsteady step back. “Maybe I should go.”
“This is your room,” Kage pointed out, just as Lysander snapped, “You’re not going anywhere.”
Lysander cleared his throat. “The dreams. We’re connected. Not just you and me, all three of us.” He glanced at Kage. “When Kage made that vow …”
“Oh, shit,” I breathed. The pieces were falling into place now.
“We’re a triad, Regan. You’re our archon,” Kage said, from the bath.
I stared at them, too stunned to speak. Finally, “That’s not possible,” I said. “I’m House Drakharrow. Is that even possible? I mean …” I shook my head.
“It’s rare, but not impossible,” Lysander said quietly. “When Kage made the vow, he realized what had happened.”
