“Fuck you.” I throw the protein bar wrapper at him; he just laughs and catches it against his chest.
Deacon looks over from a few stalls down, buzzing with energy. “You guys coming out?”
I remember what my rookie season was like.
“Only a couple drinks for me.” Jax throws out.
“Count me in.” A few guys holler out.
“Nah,” I respond casually.
Mercer cocks a brow. “No?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Huh.”
I narrow my eyes. “What the fuck does huh mean?”
“Oh, nothing.” He snorts, shaking his head.
“Jesus Christ. You guys need a new word.”
Jax grins. “Just trying to remember the last road trip you willingly went back to the hotel alone.”
Mercer wags his finger at Jax. “Good one.”
I throw my hands up. “Are you two keeping track of who I fuck now?”
“Absolutely not,” Jax says. “But your lack of subtlety over the years has made it difficult not to notice.”
I wave a hand between them. “Fuck you both.”
“Apparently not.” Mercer takes a step back. “You can’t even buy us a drink.”
“Asshole,” I mumble.
Jax barks out a laugh.
“You’re no better.”
Jax tosses a towel my way. “You know where to find us if you change your mind.”
“I won’t. But make sure no one drinks and drives.”
“Got it, Cap.” Mercer calls.
I watch them walk off.
I look back down—another message.
Baby Becks: Seriously though. Good game, Ken.
The grin comes back.
