Ten.
Twenty.
Nothing.
I shift onto my back and stare at the ceiling. My body is dead, but my brain, apparently, has decided now is a great time to replay the last ten minutes or so.
Delaney in my doorway.
Bare feet.
Messy hair.

No cat.
No brown-haired girl sleeping across the hall.
No romance books littering my coffee table.
Exactly the way I like it.
I close my eyes.
For some reason, the thought doesn’t help me sleep.
CHAPTER SIX
BISHOP
I’m halfway through my protein shake when I realize I’m being watched. I look over to find Darcy sitting on the kitchen island, staring at me.
