Beta.
No.
Strong. Loyal. Protects our wolves. Beta.
Former rogue.
A growl rolls through my head.
Former.
I look down at the battle report. Thirty rogues alone showed me what Darian could do when he only had himself to protect. Yesterday, he fought just as brutally with Pack Warriors, a Gamma and another wolf depending on him.
My Lycan practically purrs.
Beta.
Stop.
Selena’s fingers brush my arm. I look at her and find her watching me with entirely too much amusement.
“Your Lycan?” she asks.
“Yes.”
Her smile widens. “What does he want?”
“Nothing.”
Liar.
I grit my teeth while Joshua laughs.
Jasmin pushes another folder across the desk. “Before Rylan starts arguing with himself out loud, we should probably discuss this.”
I open it.
The first report is dated two months ago. I turn the page. The next is three months old. Another references a security procedure changed four months ago.
“Candice has been gone eight months,” Selena says.
“And the Carters have been here five weeks,” Joshua adds.
I flip back through the reports. “So whoever gave the rogues this information was here.”
“During all of it,” Jasmin says.
I look at the folders covering my desk. Rogues waiting for interrogation. Pack members from the safe room waiting to be questioned. Security procedures that need to be reviewed. Border reports. Damage reports. Injuries. Evidence.
Beside all of it sits the schedule for the rest of my fucking week.
Selena follows my gaze. “We need secretaries.”
I look at her. “Secretaries?”
“Humans use them.”
“We’re not humans.”
