The Annoyingly Attractive Neighbor

“It came up last week.”
“And we lost.”
Claire nodded. “I’m writing.”
“You’re already getting competitive,” Noah observed.
“I am not competitive.”
“You just told Cole he was no longer allowed to hold the answer sheet.”
“That was a strategic decision.”
The trivia began. The first category was romantic comedies. Claire got every answer immediately.
“How do you know all of these?” Cole asked.
“Research.”
Noah looked at her. “You mean watching romcoms.”
“Research,” she repeated.
The next category was home repairs. Of course Noah knew a strangely obscure answer.
“How did you know that?” Julia asked.
“I fix things.”
Claire smiled proudly. “He does.”
The next category was sports. Cole confidently gave the wrong answer. Julia corrected him before he could cost the team a point.
Then food and drink. After that, Julia carried the team through the history and literature category.
The final category was television, and it all came down to one last question, a Gilmore Girls question.
“Nobody speak,” Claire warned.
Cole lowered his drink. “I wasn’t going to.”
“Good.”
“Which Connecticut town is the setting of Gilmore Girls?” the host asked.
Claire grabbed the pencil.
“Stars Hollow,” Noah answered before she could write.
She looked at him. “You knew that.”
“You talk about Gilmore Girls obsessively.”
“That isn’t the point.”
“What is the point?”
Claire smiled as she wrote the answer. “Nothing.”
