“Come on, Keller,” Aaron taunts. “The game’s called truth.”
“You want the truth?” Jordan glances at me before addressing the crowd. “I think Kennedy’s an idiot for coming up with this whole ridiculous plan. She’s too pretty, and too smart, for something so dumb. But whatever. Her choice.”
“Why are you even here?” Lucas asks with a heavy dose of attitude. “I can’t speak for everyone here, but at least for me, Kennedy is the ultimate one that got away. I dated her for over a year and couldn’t figure out the time lock on her vault, so I’m here to finally crack that code. Why do you want to win?”
I had no idea my vagina was the campus equivalent of Fort Knox. I don’t know whether to be flattered or offended.
“You’re a fucking asshole.” Jordan laughs, but it’s that same nothing about this is funny sound I’ve gotten used to from him. “I don’t want to win. I’m not interested in having sex with someone who only wants to get it over with.” His gaze locks on mine, and the rest of the room fades into the periphery. “If I were to sleep with her, it would be because we were inexplicably drawn to each other, not because I beat out twelve other guys.”
“Listen to Shakespeare over there, usin’ his big words,” Trey mocks him.
Jordan tears his gaze from mine to scowl at Trey, but his impassioned speech continues to wreak havoc on my insides. A huge part of me wants to scream at him, beg him to tell me what he means by “inexplicably drawn to each other,” because that’s the only explanation for how I’ve felt about him since the day he confronted me in the quad.
Instead, I sit quietly while the rest of the guys take turns explaining how they want to unlock the code to my vault.
After I eliminate Aaron and Lucas, Nicole moves to the next game while Jeremy and Elijah escort them out of the basement to avoid a fight.
“You should’ve given extra points for honesty!” Aaron shouts as Jeremy slams the door in his face.
Demerits is more like it. I’ve decided there actually is such a thing as being too honest.
Nicole cups her hands around her mouth and shouts above the rowdy guys. “Who’s ready for a little spin the bottle action?”
“Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout!” Trey does a double fist pump. “This is where my mad skills come into play.”
Tom Something snorts. I have no idea why he was chosen to stay when I don’t even know his last name. “What mad skills?”
“Ask your mom,” Trey shoots back. “She had no complaints.”
Tom lunges toward Trey until Elijah grabs him by the back of his shirt and drags him down. “Chill out, he’s joking.”
“Listen up, guys! I need everyone to form a circle on the floor.” Nicole scowls at her boyfriend. “Not you, Jer.”
Jeremy blinks up at her from his spot in the circle, his mess of blond hair falling over his forehead. “Aw, babe, I’m only kidding.”
“Sure, you were.” Nicole rolls her eyes and snatches the red plastic cup from his hand, downing the contents herself. “Make yourself useful and turn on some music.”
“Fine,” he grumbles, pulling himself from the floor and storming off toward the bar area. “I’d better get some kissing for my troubles.”
“You can kiss my ass if you like.” Nicole flashes him a deadly smile.
Jeremy blows her a kiss. “Anytime, baby. I’m only here to please.”
Nicole’s still laughing as Drake’s newest song plays, making the walls vibrate from the deep bass.
“Where was I?” She huffs, flipping her lavender hair over her shoulder.
“Circle.” Caleb settles into his spot between two guys I vaguely recognize from Theta Epsilon.
Nicole laughs, then shakes her head. “Everyone sit in a circle. Technique matters here, guys. We’ll be eliminating three more of you during this round.”
“Three?” Tyler’s eyes go wide. “Why three? Lucas and Aaron are out, so that leaves ten. I thought you said eight of us would be going into the next round?”
Nicole narrows her eyes at Jordan, and I can feel her annoyance all the way over here. “That was before he showed up.”
“But Keller isn’t even playing.” Another guy whose name completely escapes me glares at me as if he knows I was the one who invited Jordan. “He should be the first to go.”
“I’m with Flynn,” Trey agrees. “If Keller doesn’t want to play, you should go ahead and eliminate him now.”
